Do you go to sleep on an empty stomach because eating before bedtime can lead to weight gain? I found this interesting article online from "Eat This Not That" which claims it might be better to have a snack if that stomach is rumbling in the evening. It’s a problem most people face when they’re trying to eat healthy. You’re starving right before bed, but having something to eat before bedtime seems not only unhealthy but detrimental to one's diet plans. Turns out, going to bed hungry could actually hurt your weight-loss efforts. A rumbling tummy means an unrestful sleep, and a likelihood that you’ll wake up so starving, you’ll make unhealthy breakfast choices. Getting the proper amount of sleep is actually beneficial for losing weight. Research on the topic showed that sleeping five or less hours a night increases your chances of gaining weight. In addition, lack of sleep affects the hormones that control hunger, and ignoring your appetite means you will crave high-calorie junk food the following day. Therefore, one needs to find a healthy way to alleviate those evening hunger cravings and find foods which will not only eliminate that growling stomach, but provide you with a restful sleep. Here is a list of nighttime foods which will help you fall asleep faster, build lean protein while you sleep, and keep you satisfied all night long to avoid those unhealthy morning hunger urges. 1. Greek Yogurt 2. Cheeries 3. Peanut Butter on Whole Grain Bread 4. Protein Shake 5. Cottage Cheese 6. Banana 7. Almonds 8. High Fiber Cereal Hope you find this list helpful. I have started to try a few of these suggestions as I am a big night time snack eater. Especially, if watching a TV program. Anyway, if you struggle to sleep or have nighttime hunger pangs you might want to do a little research on your own. Source- Eat This Not That Photo- Healthline.com

I never eat after 6p.m. Not because I want to lose weight - but because I prefer to go to bed with an empty tummy rather than a full one.

Banana is high fibre fruit. If you eat banana after the food then you definitely gain weight.

Being a high fiber fruit at least it will fill me up and keep me away from the fattening sweets Don't be afraid that a banana will make you fat; a normal banana contains about 150 calories max. They're great sources of dietary fiber, minerals like potassium and magnesium, and a good source of other vitamins like vitamins A and C. The notion that bananas are fattening stems from misconceptions about their water and sugar content.

I go to bed between 1 and 2am. I eat dinner between 6 and 7pm. I very rarely eat anything heavy after dinner. I might have a cup of tea or something light. My husband goes to bed about an hour after we finish dinner and is always up and eats junk food before I even go to bed. He always eats junk food.

Wow! You are a night owl in my world Nancy. I'm ready for bed by 11:30. Hum, seems like your husband should change his sleep habits. Eating that late cannot be good for one's digestion?
