Benta Crossed Over the Rainbow Bridge

I first got Benta as a kitten over 15 years ago. She was a feisty little bugger. Loved the outdoors. She would cry and cry if you didn't let her out to play. Once she got her fill, she would come back inside. The only time she didn't like to go outside was in the winter months. But, as soon as spring came around, she was outside all day long and sometimes at night too if we let her. Her health began to decline this year. She no longer could jump up on the porch railing to sit in the sun. She would find a sunny spot in the yard and lay there for hours. Then she would come inside, eat, drink, and go back outside. When she came inside this fall, she stayed inside. She didn't beg to go out again. We would find her laying on the heater vent warming her old bones. I knew that her time would be short. I called the vet yesterday and asked her to come by and put my beloved furbaby to rest. She came today. I held Benta one last time. Stroked her fur, talked to her. The vet administered the medicine to relax her. Shortly after that, she administered one more shot. It was only a few minutes and Benta was gone. I stroked her fur and talked to her. I could have sworn I heard her purr. It was as if she was saying thank you. Although I know it was the right thing to do for her, I feel empty and sad. I'll miss her company. Rip Benta. Momma loves you. Go find Lotus, I know she misses you too.

That is so sad. You lost a beloved friend. Benta had a good cat run at 15 years.

I'm so sorry this day came for you. It's hard making that decision, even though you know it's the right one. She can play with my son's cat, Kittah, and my two dogs, Rascal and Pip. They'll have fun together.

You made me cry, I feel so sorry when a pet crosses the rainbow bridge. You did the right thing, she has not suffered and she thanked you for this.

Oh how sad. I know it hurts but it was the right thing to do @ElusiveButterfly . I've lost so many over the last year and it rips my heart out. We get so attached to our furbabies; especially when we've had them a long time. Benta is now over the Rainbow Bridge and is probably running around with all her friends. I'm so sorry.

I'm so sad for you. I know the feeling of having to put a beloved pet put to sleep but it is the last kindness you can do for them.

Because they are like part of our families we miss them so. Countless memories, locked in your heart forever to remember beloved pets. I found this site for pet owners who have lost a beloved pet to help with grieving of their loss. On my facebook page I've a lot of pet videos like Nala the cat, Li'l Bub and more. Sometimes pet owners put their post too of a beloved pet that went to the Rainbow Bridge & this is how I know of them. I understand for I've lost pets too. One pet, Boy who is in fur color like your Benta. Boy had a bent tail that some made fun of; I always defended him calling him handsome. He was my furry friend from birth. He would go off somewhere when he was older and came home to see me. He was a very sweet cat. I let him do as he pleases. One day he came home. Stayed the whole day. Disappeared that night and never came back...he was old already. It was like he came home one last time to say goodbye, I'm going very soon. I cried so much for missing him. Now I know he went to Rainbow Bridge and I feel so much better.
