That's horrifying. I can't imagine how that athlete is feeling like now. Not only the physical pain but the emotional and psychological pain that brought him. How cruel.

Isn't strange that they would do that, even after he was willing to give them everything he had? I hope they catch them!

He even offered them everything he had. I wonder what their motive was fo doing such a horrible thing?

I read that and felt sick. I mean it's just cruel and barbaric. I hope they are found and punished severely.

I agree with everything you wrote! He even offered everything he had but they really wanted to harm him. Were they jealous? Was it revenge? I also hope they catch them just to see why they would do such an evil thing. It's a nightmare but it's not a dream, it's real news.

@db20747 Yes! I checked on the story and there is some good news that he may recover and compete again.
Mhlengi Gwala tells the BBC he hopes a further operation will save his legs so he can compete again.

@1hopefulman I have read that new gang members are told to do bad crimes as a form of initiation into a gang. So, that could have been a motive.

@1hopefulman I first thought about the Tonya / Nancy thing. So sad that a woman who admits she knew before hand of the attack is now making money and is a "star". The world needs to stop applauding and supporting people who do horrific acts against people. Its not like they do time or pay for it; instead its a quick ride to stardom.

It might be since they didn't take his money. I checked on the story and he might recover and compete again but no news on the perpetrators. I'll keep an eye on this story.
