Favorite "Life" Songs #4 - "Story of My Life"

Time to cheer things up a bit in my countdown of my favorite songs with "life" in the title. We are at #4: "Story of My Life" by Social Distortion. I was being sarcastic when I said "cheer things up." Led by vocalist/guitarist Mike Ness, legendary punk band Social Distortion is anything but cheery: Ness is a straight shooter who tells it like it is, and unless you are a rich white guy, you should be able to relate to the disappointment of "Story of My Life" in some regards. From the band's self-titled 1990 album, "Story of My Life" was released as a single, and while it failed to chart, it is one of Social D's most popular tunes to this day. There is a reason a punk rocker like @crossbones27 regularly writes about Social Distortion. Ness is the real deal and has actually lived his lyrics, with a sort of Johnny Cash-gone-punk persona that's hard not to like. I've linked to the official video, appropriately filmed in black and white. 16 million views can't be wrong, can they? Enjoy! (Yep, that pretty much sums it up info verified by Wikipedia)

Haha, from inland empire and they never played it enough for my taste. I do not say that often because they sure killed everyone else's songs, well Rancid was pretty spoty also, but MTV helped a bit with that, Bad Religion used to get some major love, though.

Holy crap does have 16 million views, thought you might have accidently hit a 1 in front of the 6. Really, this is one of the most unique songs ever written. I would like someone to try to find a song that sounds like this. Why when it came out, stood out like a sore thumb. That's what I miss about true music.

I actually remember hearing this on the radio. Not these days, though. Which speaks volumes about the sad state of radio.

@teamfreak16 Indeed and was crazy because remember the station saying they were getting bombarded to who that band was, but also was very short lived. People really do not like sad songs. Unless, Johnny Cash.

@crossbones27 - I remember hearing "Ball and Chain" on the radio back then, too. The good old days.

Three "stories of my life" in my music world: this one, and two called "The Story of My Life," different songs by Justin Tubb and Marty Robbins. How different can that be? Well, they're all good songs. Didn't think this could be left off.

Something completely new to me. Never heard this before. Since I am no expert I will ask you. Once I learn something new in music I explore further. I this the same song sung by someone else or is this a different song with the same title.

@RasmaSandra Its a different song and may have way more views but not nearly as cool, but I am biased. As I say. If you like it, who cares.

It did get played on the radio, but it is punk, so it wasn't exactly wildly popular. You could easily have missed it.

You're quite welcome. As far as I'm concerned, it's a classic.
