Day 9 Amos 9 Amos 9:1 I saw the Lord standing upon the altar: and he said, Smite the lintel of the door, that the posts may shake: and cut them in the head, all of them; and I will slay the last of them with the sword: he that flees of them shall not flee away, and he that escapes of them shall not be delivered. 2 Though they dig into hell, thence shall mine hand take them; though they climb up to heaven, thence will I bring them down: 3 And though they hide themselves in the top of Carmel, I will search and take them out thence; and though they be hid from my sight in the bottom of the sea, thence will I command the serpent, and he shall bite them: 4 And though they go into captivity before their enemies, thence will I command the sword, and it shall slay them: and I will set mine eyes upon them for evil, and not for good. 5 And the Lord GOD of hosts is he that touches the land, and it shall melt, and all that dwell therein shall mourn: and it shall rise up wholly like a flood; and shall be drowned, as by the flood of Egypt. 6 It is he that builds his stories in the heaven, and hath founded his troop in the earth; he that calls for the waters of the sea, and pours them out upon the face of the earth: The LORD is his name. 7 Are ye not as children of the Ethiopians unto me, O children of Israel? says the LORD. Have not I brought up Israel out of the land of Egypt? And the Philistines from Caphtor, and the Syrians from Kir? 8 Behold, the eyes of the Lord GOD are upon the sinful kingdom, and I will destroy it from off the face of the earth; saving that I will not utterly destroy the house of Jacob, says the LORD. 9 For, lo, I will command, and I will sift the house of Israel among all nations, like as corn is sifted in a sieve, yet shall not the least grain fall upon the earth. 10 All the sinners of my people shall die by the sword, which say, The evil shall not overtake nor prevent us. 11 In that day will I raise up the tabernacle of David that is fallen, and close up the breaches thereof; and I will raise up his ruins, and I will build it as in the days of old: 12 That they may possess the remnant of Edom, and of all the heathen, which are called by my name, says the LORD that does this. 13 Behold, the days come, says the LORD, that the plowman shall overtake the reaper, and the treader of grapes him that sows seed; and the mountains shall drop sweet wine, and all the hills shall melt. 14 And I will bring again the captivity of my people of Israel, and they shall build the waste cities, and inhabit them; and they shall plant vineyards, and drink the wine thereof; they shall also make gardens, and eat the fruit of them. 15 And I will plant them upon their land, and they shall no more be pulled up out of their land which I have given them, says the LORD thy God. People have a notion they will not get caught if they break any laws, whether it’s a simple traffic violation, or worse. Yet, when those lights start beaming behind you, you know you were caught speeding, and will face the judge. God told Amos his people would not escape punishment. All those who did any kind of evil without repentance, who sought to get away from God’s judgment, would be slain. However, there would be a remnant who would turn back to God, who would seek him, and those would return to their homeland. The tabernacle would be rebuilt, and God would bring in harvests they had not seen before. As Christians, you know when you sin, you will not go unpunished. However, you have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ, who will go before the Father, pleading for you, when you repent and confess your sin, and you will be forgiven. 1 John 2:1 My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: 2 And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world. (KJV) Jesus is not your ‘get out of jail free’ card. He sees the heart, knows your thoughts and motives. He knows when there is true repentance and when there isn’t. We all sin, and we are promised forgiveness every time we sin and confess our sin. However, confession isn’t a license to keep sinning. Romans 6:1 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? 2 God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein? (KJV) When we see the black condition of our soul, we will fall on our knees asking God to forgive us, and he will, and we will know the full forgiving power and grace of God, and we won’t want to keep sinning. Then God will do for you, what he did for his people. He will bring you back into his presence and cause you to prosper in everything you do. Stop running from God and start living a life pleasing to him, and he will lift you up and set you in his presence. Let’s pray: Father, you know the condition of my heart. You know when I am truly sorry for my actions against you. Search me and know me. Forgive me and set me free from the law of sin and death. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen. Amen! This was just spoken about recently! Its so true, that yes we can be forgiven. If we keep doing the same thing without true changes, then we really aren't cleansed of what we asked. We need to really feel it and in it that, we can truly become the good people we want to be. I'm struggling with this. I think I'm getting better at releasing anger over past poor actions of others. can't change the past, but I can turn a bad situation into a good one if I keep asking God for help!
