Do you recycle, even though you haven't got anything to recycle?

Do you empty your house bins when its recycling day, however much trash is in them? I tend to empty my small inside the house bins when they are full but some people don't like to have rubbish in the house and so put it out on recycling day, which usually means trying to put a new black bag liner in the big outside bin in the dark late at night. All of us on putting the bins out duty ( the guys) well know that black bin bags rarely stretches over the lips of the outside round bin, even though the bin is designed to be round for exactly that reason! If I go around my moms for Sunday dinner she is very keen to fill up the various outside color bins and recycling trays ready for the weekly collection on Monday, my first task on arrival. But even if she has the empty brown garden waste bin she insists I go out into the garden and find some garden waste to put in the brown bin for collection. I think she feels guilty if the various bins and trays are empty as the trash me may feels she isn't recycling. This defeats the point of recycling in that its creating waste that does not need to be collected. I would not say my mom was house proud as the house is pretty busy with stuff but she just feels the need to put out recycling when it can wait another week or two. Now that China are beginning to turn their backs on waste from the west being sent for recycling there we are going to need to cut back on waste generation somehow before we are over-run with our own trash. There was a case in America this month where New York State was sending their human waste to Alabama for some sort of recycling process and the residents were complaining about he smell. So the next time you feel the need to put something in one of your recycling trays that can wait a week or two then remember that smell.
