I am sure you have heard of the old saying "Nice guys finish last." which was a quote from the former manager of the Brooklyn Dodgers the late Leo Durocher applied to a female dog named Helena who is four years of age who was returned to the animal shelter in Atlanta Georgia by her previous owner since she was "too nice." to defend his home. Lo and behold two days later Helena who is nicknamed Velcro dog because she loves to be with humans who love her a lot was adopted by a loving family where she can spend the rest of her life with her new family. LifeLine Animal Project staffer Karen Hirsch was happy to see that the dog that was not mean enough to defend the home of her previous owner will now leave the shelter to spend the rest of her life with her new family that adopted her last Wednesday. It is very rare to know of any dog that loves humans so much that she was considered too nice to be a watch dog.

Glad she has a new home! Haha my current dog loves his humans but he hates strangers he'd freak if anyone came into our house uninvited! My previous dog would have invited burglars to play fetch

I am happy that Inside Edition reported the news that Helena has a new home after she came back to the shelter two days earlier. I was afraid she was going to put down if she was not adopted soon.

@Deepizzaguy I hate to think of healthy dogs being put down! My dog was a rescue as his previous owners didn't make the effort to train him then couldn't cope with him.

What a sweet pupper. She reminds me of my dad's dog Scar. He would not hurt a fly, I love that big boy.

Really it is very rare, but it is not good for a dog, because dog normally is required for defending, hunting etc. But if she is playful also, then she will be loved there.

I am glad she has a new home now. Not all dogs are good for a watchdog.

That is true because most of the dogs my relatives adopted were watchdogs, Dogs grow up depending on how they are raised.

If the dog decides to be nice to people, then has it committed a crime? Humans can be incomprehensible sometimes. Dogs should be allowed to do what they want.

I guess if all you want is a watch dog then you don't care if it is nice. But then he should have known what dog he was adopting before he did. I recall being the victim of a break and enter while away and my dog probably licked the burglars silly. They actually let him out while they grabbed all they wanted.

I guess different breeds of dogs are watch dogs and some are playful pets.
