Dogs no problem but not cats says this Vet

Only those who own cats can handle them when they are ill whereas any dog can be handled by Vets by just putting a muzzle. My experience to handle a cat that does not belong to me was proof enough to testify what the Vet said. Moral of the story. Never care for stray cats as when they fall ill neither the Vet nor the one who cares for them can handle.them

Our veterinarian knows how to handle cats. He's wonderful. I suppose stray cats are more of a concern for many.

Have you personally seen a Vet handling a stray?

@DianneN There is a huge difference between cats that grow with the owners and those like our Lolly II who is a perfect stray

What happened to Lolly II? I hope nothing wrong. Stray cats cannot be touched by a vet.

I have never had a cat, but my dog Annabelle just loves cats. Every time she sees one she wants to play with it. Too bad they don't feel the same way.

Vets would have more knowledge of this then I would but it can be very hard to get a muzzle on a dog just as it is hard to get close to a cat with their claws.

@allknowing depends some dogs are huge. Even my boyfriends lab if she really wants to break free I am not strong enough to hold her back.

Are you able to tame the stray cats or don't you want to do that?

If strays grow with me as it happened to our earlier Lolly it is not difficult.

Lol cats have too many sharp contact points!! On the other hand my dog was muzzled at the vets and managed to headbutt a vet nurse hard enough to need ice on her eye

@allknowing He's terrified so he throws himself in every direction! He reminds me of a toddler having a tantrum paws and head going in every direction

Stray cats are difficult to handle. In fact they just cannot be handled specially when they need medical treatment.

Lolly II would have surely bit all of us if we did not put that towel on him.
