A fire that started in a duplex at 5900 block of West Ali Circle on Tuesday morning destroyed the home.
West Valley Fire Department Chief Jeff Fox said that the fire came from one of the bedrooms inside the home.
The mother of the two children who are a six year old girl and a 17 year old male were trapped inside a bedroom by the time the firefighters arrived to put out the flames.
The firefighters were able to rescue a 16 year old girl who in a wheelchair and a seven year old boy to safety even though both children has suffered from smoke inhalation.
However neither child was taken to the local hospital for treatment since they have recovered from their health scare.
The fire started inside a bedroom but it was not the bedroom where the children were inside which may have saved their lives.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. Even though the damage to the home makes it impossible to live after the smoke damaged the home, everyone was safe and sound.
The American Red Cross is assisting the family who lost their home to find temporary housing until they can get back on their feet.

That is true since entering a burning building is a very dangerous job.

Me too since losing a home is bad enough. Losing two lives would have been tragic.

That is true because every fire that they fight could be their last.
