I Went Furniture Shopping

When we bought our home in Florida almost 5 years ago, it was fully furnished. For the first few years, I just used the things that the house came with but now that we are spending more time here, I am trying to make it into a house that works for me.
The living room has two sofas and a recliner. I have two end tables that were here and I bought a shabby chic gray painted table two years ago to go next to the end of one couch. That table is now between one couch and the recliner.
The end of the couch where I sit has a high arm and when I try to put my coffee down on a coaster, I can't see it on the end table. I wanted a table that was taller. I have been on the hunt for a few weeks. I need a table 28 inches tall.
I finally found one at a consignment shop nearby, the same shop where are bought the beautiful crystal sugar bowl that I use as a Spooner. It is painted black and quite pretty. It is not a real antique, I suspect it is mahogany from the 1940s or 50s but it is solid as a rock and the perfect height. Not only that, it was $30 which I consider the perfect price as well.
I am very happy with my purchase and next, I am going to replace all the lamps in the living room.

I just realized I made a mistake in my article I meant to say 1940s or 50s and maybe even the 30th. I believe it is definitely 20th century. I loved the little lion feet.

Furniture shopping is really fun. We are planning on building our own house soon and my mother in law told me that we have to tell her when we're going furniture shopping. She loves furniture shopping she would want to get involved with everything. But of course the final decision is always with me.

@BelleStarr She's not the typical mother in law. She and I get along well but we don't live together. She's in New Jersey, I'm in the Philippines but we see each other every two years and we would spend her whole vacation together.

Thank you, yes that is the table. I love it tool, I have great luck in Florida finding used treasures. It is a little harder up here in Connecticut.

It looks like something I grew up with. I am sure you will enjoy, and yes, I was born in the 50's. I think our table like that had a raised rim. I think I have seen that referred to as a pie crust top. Looking again I see yours has the edges too. Neat.

the crimped edges do look like that.

I am doing some remodeling to my home too and I´m very happy about it although some things are still not as I would like to have them.

You did well with that purchase and should be proud of yourself. I love shopping so think your lamp search would be fun. What kind of lamps are you looking for?

I need two table lamps and a floor lamp. I have a rather large living room and only a center light on the fan so the edges get dark.
