Good evening everyone. I hope your day has been lovely! =) Things are good here. God is so good! So, my friend called me a bit ago while in tears. Her ex husband is taking her to court for custody of their children. He's trying to prove she's an unfit mother which is not the case. Her lawyer told her to get someone she can trust as a witness to the abuse she suffered from him. That someone is me... I have never been to court before so I'm nervous but we need prayers for the case. This is a great mom who's on trial here because of a spiteful man. He started this because she wouldn't sign full custody over to him, and he admitted that through text. I don't trust the system but I DO trust God! =)

I hope things go well for this lady. I hope they can use the text as proof I know from what I have seen on television they normally are not able to. Hopefully you testifying will help her and any other proof she has against him.

So I read down through the comments and see that the case turned out in her favor, as it should of in this case. But when it comes to custody battles, I really don't trust the system. And this is me talking from a father's position. The courts are notorious for siding with the mother a majority of the time against the father, even in situations where the father could better provide for the children. I've seen many good fathers painted as a bad parent in the court system, when it's the furthest thing from the truth. Thankfully, the system is changing, and more and more fathers are gaining custody of their children, or are at least getting 50-50 visitation rights.

@moffittjc I absolutely agree with you but I know this couple personally and the father is a very controlling and abusive person. My family lived with them for months. He doesn't treat his ex wife well or the children. If they don't do everything he says he leaves bruises on all of them. It's really bad. =(

@moffittjc I agree with that too but because he's a firefighter apparently he gets special privileges. It's crazy.

@LovingMyBabies That guy deserves to be locked up. Lock him up and throw away the key. Nobody should ever hurt a woman or a child.

As you know, I don't trust the system either.. most the time. And although I don't know either of them and can only go by what you say of them.. I trust you, so I hope all goes in her favor. But in the end, whatsever best for the children.

@Courtlynn Thank you. She's a great mom and her children would not want to live with their dad either. He's controlling and abusive. =(

@Celticeagle It back fired on him today. The judge was angry, told him he was a waste of their time, the judge ordered him to pay all court costs and attorney fees and put it in his file that he is not a credible person!

He's just being spiteful, that's such a mean thing to do! This man doesn't want to end of paying child support, that's what he's worried about! Saying that she isn't a good mother, will prevent the courts from dipping into his money! That's his first concern, it's not their kids at all.

@kobesbuddy Well it back fired on him. He made the judge very angry since he had no proof of anything and he called it an emergency hearing. The judge told him he is a waste of time and not a credible person. He also got stuck paying all court costs from today. And that's going to be their judge for the remainder of the case so he buried himself.

@LovingMyBabies 'HA HA HA', to that creep! Imagine, lying to make her look like an unfit mother, to keep from paying child support! Your friend is lucky to get rid of him, that's for sure

Hopefully they can find a happy medium where all involved will benefit. God knows our needs and provides in the best way suited to them which may not always coincide with what we think we need. Good luck to all. :-)
