Favorite "Color" Bands #14 - The Blues Brothers

Me thinks that @JolietJake will highly approve of #14 in my countdown of my favorite bands with a color in their name: The Blues Brothers. The Blues Brothers, Joliet Jake (John Belushi) and Elwood (Dan Aykroyd) Blues, started out as a sketch on Saturday Night Live. It spawned an album (Briefcase Full of Blues,) and a successful movie, The Blues Brothers. But oh, WHAT a band! Belushi and Aykroyd were backed up by a world class group made up of a who's who of musicians that helped shape the early days of rock and roll. Check out this roster: guitarist's Steve Cropper and Matt "Guitar" Murphy, bassist Donald "Duck" Dunn, drummer Steve Jordan, and a boffo horn section made up of Lou Marini, Alan Rubin, Tom Scott, and Tom Malone. We're talking a Hall of Fame lineup. The joke wouldn't have worked with a subpar band. Those guys made what started as a comedy sketch into some serious music. I've linked to a performance from the movie. Enjoy! (Sunglasses and a full tank of gas info verified by Wikipedia)

A couple of the greatest SNL characters ever, as far as I'm concerned.

@teamfreak16 True hard to beat. Not to mention, I think that movie was the first place I heard "Minnie the Moocher" thanks to Cab Calloway's guest appearance

I liked their SNL skit better than their music. But "Soul Man" was the exception. They did Sam & Dave justice on that tune!
