mylot’s Posted Discussions: “Can We Published It as Our Own?”

I am browsing things up on myLot and noticed that I had more than a thousand posted discussions. The question is “Can we retrieved them and published as our own?” I think it is worth to keep the copy. In addition, it is the product of our thoughts over something and considered to be an intellectual property. Unless it is owned by myLot now. “Do you back up your writings here?” “Can we collect them and be published in a hard book?” “What do you think about this concern?” Image Credit: pixabay.com

I have copies of all my submissions here but I don't think I'll be trying to make a book of them. Perhaps someone else will know if you're actually allowed to or not.

@JudyEv I think I need to wait if it is possible. If ever I am allowed, I still need to have the selection process. It wouldn't all be published. I mean, some of the discussions that don't need to be in the book.

I was thinking the same thing too. Put it in a portfolio for future. But I am not sure about that. Maybe you can ask Alex about it

As of now, I am just wanted opinions from our fellow mylotters. I also think that it is the best idea to copy them and served as personal writings.

@JustBhem I think it is possible as a hard book and not to another writing site.

@Shavkat I think we can as long as we are not going to post it anywhere? Right?

Other sites do, Kabsat! They have the rights to own them, especially article-type posted on their sites. How are you? You seem so busy lately.

I believe you can since it is your writing and not protected by myLot. I don't have anything that is worth keeping haha though it would be fun to make a little journal of all my stuff.

I agree. I think sorting out will be an option. I don't want to publish the personal issues or concerns and let people know it. I think the trivial things or facts that could be possible.

@DesirousDreamer During the old days, I do write my journal. Now, I can't do it anymore. But then, mylot is a good option.

@Shavkat I think it would be fun to keep a journal just to see what I was working on that day or my emotions. I always wanted to do that, I just never done it.

Some sites like virily can use your ideas as they see fit! They claim rights over your posts. That's what was in n their terms of service. I didn't like that at all!!! But I didn't see such a thing in my lots terms of service!!

I do agree that some sites had such rules that they own our writings. I am still clouded if it does have the same rights over our posted discussions.

I don´t know. Yet, I think that most of the posts I have written here are not the kind of thing that I would want to have published as a book. The posts are alright here, but are not works of art.

I think it wasn't published some of the posted discussions. It would be selected if I am allowed to do it. In my own opinion, some of the posted discussions were trivial about something.

I have a copy of everything I posted online. What you published is yours, of course you can retrieve the content and publish a book.

@Shavkat I always save the text on my computer before publishing. I also save the photos I publish in the same folders of the texts.

An interesting discussion. I would think it would be OK as long as they don't appear anywhere else online. It can be difficult to sell a self-published book as there is so much competition but it might be good to print up a few (inexpensively) as gifts for your family and friends.

Whatever you publish here is yours. It belongs to you. You can do with your discussions whatever you wish. If you want to make a book out of them you can do it. I do not back up my discussions but perhaps I should. They might come in handy one day. There are a lot of them to back up. It's gonna take a long time.

@Shavkat What I should have done was this... Every time I posted a discussion I should have copied it into Word. Then I wouldn't have to worry about this. I have a lot of stuff on HubPages and I never copied articles into Word after writing them so now I have hundreds to copy. :( I did some a while back but still a lot more to go...

Is it guaranteed that if we delete our posts here will be gone forever in the search engine? As I have thought, it will take time to be unsearchable if being deleted. I am not sure about it though.

This is a place where we interact with each other. Whenever we see a person has posted something we see it and if we feel for it then we send a note through comment box. Yes we use intellectuality of our brains but It's a thought towards something. Books are published for learning purposes, to know something about the world. Thoughts are good for fun, chattering, views etc..i don't think it will be good for hard copy.

Personally speaking, I think some facts posted could be possible or any tips-type of discussions could be possible. I also don't like to post personal issues, too. It would be nice to keep it as a secret here.

In fact, I just wanted to publish it as a collection in a book. But then, I think if it is another site, it is not allowed. Some of the sites will not allow if the writings had been posted.

@Shavkat oh yea that was I was thinking. Even if it is your own work you cannot publish one work in different sites. But as a hard copy and a souvenir why not.
