I feel bad for my Sophie

Since Sophie's incident where she jumped down to the porch below us and could not jump up and had to get the police to help me get her back I cannot let her on the porch. She goes out with me and if she is still out I call her to come in. I know it must be hard for her to look out when she probably wants to be out but I cannot call the police again. I do not want to press my luck or cry police all the time. I thought it would rain and then could wait to figure out a solution but we have had nice days. I put at ad and asked people but will have to contact one or two people I was given to find a temporary solution so she can go out on the porch without me and cannot jump down.

@just4him Thanks Valerie, but, she does get to go out. Since the weather has been nice we have been on the porch on Saturdays and I hang close on the stand thing on the porch so she comes out with me.

Then maybe, when you out you can just let her be inside the house and close all possible exits.

@SIMPLYD She is inside rebel_woman when I am out. She is also in when I am at home and if I do not go on the porch I do not want her out there till I find a solution. I do not want her to climb down below.

@Hannihar Yes, she shouldn't be at the porch even when you are there because she might fall one moment you aren't watching.

@SIMPLYD rebel_woman, it is fine when I am on the porch. It is not fair for her not to be out there when I am out there.

Why don't you put rails on the porch or something to stop her from jumping?

@Hannihar Do so. Contact a carpenter to construct something that should prevent her from jumping.

@garymarsh6 I had a cat that would run half way up the wall and go back down all the time.

Oh, no! Perhaps you can put up netting or a screen.

@DianneN Dianne, I have the screen but she does not mind climbing up it. I thought when I asked my handyman that she would not like it because she gets caught on it but she still climbs.

Hmm I can't thank no of a solution either as cats can jump well and climb so chicken wire or a fence would not work.

@shaggin We have something on the porch and I thought she would not climb up on it but she does Shaggin. I will have to find a carpenter when things gets quieter. We have a holiday coming up and then after that I have things to take care and then we have our Independence Day and I have a new calendar to create so lots to to.Thank you Shaggin and that is ok. I need to meet with carpenters or one here and have them see the situation and explain what happened.

@jstory07 When I call someone I will have them come over and we will discuss something temporary to put. The vet suggested something slippy so she cannot climb up it. Right now things are very busy with lots to do to get ready for our upcoming holiday and so do not have time and right after the holiday other things to do and a calendar to do so will have to wait till around May. Thanks Judy. Good idea you suggested.

Poor kitty, Perhaps this link can give you come ideas.
High-rise syndrome is a term applied to cats that fall from high windows or balconies.http://www.ottawahumane.ca/your-pets/harness.cfm Contrary to popular myth, cats don't always land on their feet. Although cats do have a righting reflex,...

@RasmaSandra Thanks Sandra and I will check out the link I read it Sandra. She doesn't fall. She jumps down herself. She cannot jump up and that is why I need to find some way to let her on the porch where she will not jump down anywhere.

Some people in Australia have sort of cages which they can put outside or attach to their patios or whatever. They are a bit like aviaries I guess. But I don't think they would be cheap.

@JudyEv Thanks Judy, but, I could not put her in a cage. I want her to be free. No, I want someone to put something that can be taken off easily so she will not climb up the bars.

Aw poor kitty. It is mindful of you to not want to repeat that situation. I've seen a big - looks like a play pen for kids but it has a roof - that you can put your pets in and set it outside. I don't know if that helps....
