Health Fair in my Community

Once or twice a year, our community has a health fair in one of our clubhouses. The most recent health fair was last week. One of the events they offered was a brief intro to chair yoga. I sat down in the class for about ten minutes and, much to my surprise, ended up in the above photo which was on the front page of the local newspaper!
You can barely see me. I am in the back row of the chair yoga class at the far right end, behind two other people. You can just see my head peaking out above their heads! LOL
The health fair was interesting, however. They had all kinds of special events going on, experts checked our bone density and blood pressure, and gave us information on all kinds of special programs available in our area. Plus, they even gave us a free lunch!
It was a fun little event, and I was there with several of my friends! Do you attend things like this where you live?

@JudyEv - They are interesting. All kinds of lectures and booths with new products. Things like that.

Oh that is fun! I feel like that would be so neat to attend. We had fairs and festivals here, I don't know if any of them are like this, I would love to go but I don't have ways to get to them since we don't have a car.

@DesirousDreamer - It was fun. I always learn something new. However, I would probably not go if it was a lot of trouble to get there.

@DeborahDiane Yeah, most of these places involve walking through really sketchy neighborhoods or are on the other side of the freeway.

@DesirousDreamer - Going across the freeway into a sketchy neighborhood would definitely be BAD for you health! Certainly not worth the risk!

It is great your photo of chair yoga class hit the headlines the local newspaper.I see you sitting behind a white-haired old man wearing glasses.

Yes, that is me! Our local newspaper is pretty good about showing photos of residents. I was surprised to see myself on the front page, though! LOL

@LadyDuck - I enjoy going to these fairs, although they only have them a couple of times a year. I always learn something new.

Health fair must be very good. There are similar events here (we have to pay for entarnce, but it is a small ammount), I enjoy attending them, because I can try new sports.

@lynnief - I love yoga. It is my favorite exercise. However, it wasn't a necessary part of the health fair. The other aspects were much more interesting.

I have been to health fairs but not that recently. A couple of years ago the Lions had a van neaby where they checked eyesight and hearing. They said I had supersonic hearing..
. My hearing is good, but really I think I was just anticipating the intervals of the tones.

@jstory07 - Maybe your nearest senior center will want to put on something like that. Local businesses, insurance agents, etc. paid for the cost.
