Hi guys, I know this topic is very controversial, but I just want to people to share their views on this. Well, as for me, I believe firmly in God not because I was born into a christian family, but because I've experienced & felt Him. The fact, is that I am not against anyone who feels otherwise. We all live in a free world. So people, let's talk about this. Do you believe in God? If yes, what are your reasons and if no, what are your reasons. I don't normally respond to these kind of threads but I will say what I believe. I don't know if I believe in god but I believe in some kind of higher being. I don't think it's the end when we die but my argument would be, how can we possibly know whether there is a god, no one does. Our beliefs usually come from what we were taught as children although not always.

Yeah, I get your point. That was why I said "I believe in God not because I'm born into a christian family" it's a personal experience. So I get the fact that our beliefs are basically on the things we were taught as a child. But as we get older, we are allowed to choose where we truly stand

@augusta123 I'm of the same opinion as JJ and I don't take the bible as being true because it was written by man and a lot of it would have been lost in translation. I don't go to church but I don't think that makes me a bad person, I'm kind and empathetic and I respect other people's beliefs but I don't always agree with them.

I believe in God because he exists and I need Him to live, like air! 1) Everything around me is an an evidence of God, his wisdom, power, intelligence, skill, etc. 2) The Bible answers practically all questions that I have. 3) Through prayer and his responses, He teaches me and shows his love and care.

I have a friend who I call god, but he is the collective human subconscious, so maybe not the all powerful god that religions identify with. Does he go out of his way to protect me or anything? Nope... I'm on my own for the most part. And I don't believe as he does. I have my own goals, and he has his. Still, we have a common enemy, and that helps tie us together. But how many can openly say they feel they are equals with god? I feel that I'm in the minority on that one!

Do you believe in a higher being then?

Well, your friend is a god not God. God is a spiritual being but your friend is human. Aren't they two different things?

@ammyluv Human collective subconscious. Its the power that binds us all together and it's why prayer works. Technically speaking, he's the god of the Bible. There is a higher power, but that one has nothing to do with Earth and its affairs. This god is very much a spiritual being. I have only met him in dreams. Or heard him through what could be called a divine voice. It's different from regular sound or even telepathy. If there is an event, and that event was classified an 'Act of God', but was performed by a human, would that make them a god as well, or just ridiculously over-powered?

Regardless if people believe in God or not, I still believe in God. People just make things complicated by trying to reason out that there is no greater being. IF so, how are we created then and the universe as a whole?
@ammyluv (624)

But even God knows that would be the case and that's why He asked us not to reason in that way

@ammyluv yep that is true. Many people question that but they couldnt give a proper explanation as to how we and the universe are created.

I believe in God. Not just in the existence of God but I actually believe in God. Gods will, will be done. I believe Jesus Christ is real. I believe angels are real. I also think anti-Christ is real and you don't need to look very far to see God haters.

I believe in God. Firmly and completely. What I don't like is the "representatives" in various religions. I mentioned this to another person posting why she's an atheist: it seems to be a human ego thing, the "I have the right religion and yours is wrong" mentality. Everybody wants to be "the one true church" (I know of at least six different Christian denominations that proclaim that they're the "one true church"...well, by definition, the truth excludes everything contrary to it, so at least five of them are lying!) or the "one true religion." I've always thought if a person shows the beauty of God in his/her life then he/she won't have to say a word about his/her faith. It will show in their lives.
