Winn Dixie closing a ton of stores.

I've been kind of expecting this for awhile. Our Winn Dixie has been all kinds of messed up and while ours isnt on the list of closures I am sure that this restructure will effect the store. I did notice that the Winn Dixie near you @andriaperry is on the list and @moffittjc the one in Gainesville is closing as well. I wonder if this is just the beginning of the end. Toys R Us is closing all of their stores, I'd hate to see Winn Dixie follow in their footsteps. While I don't shop there that often, I do when they have good sales.

All of our Winn-Dixie stores closed a long time ago. I don't really miss them all that much. I've always been more of a Kroger person. The one store chain I miss is A&P: walking in the A&P in Daytona Beach, their coffee grinder was near the door (it was in the checkout lane), and oh, did it smell good.

We don't have anything in the town I work in other than Winn Dixie and Walmart. Well besides where I work. There's a Piggly wiggly forty five minutes away but I'm iffy about them.

@thislittlepennyearns -- never did care for them when we lived in the deep south. Like their logo, though.

@FourWalls they're okay but the store is so dingy. I buy a lot of canned goods at work and meat at Walmart. I will go to Winn dixie when they have sales.

I'm trying to think if we have more than one Winn-Dixis left in Gainesville. I heard that one is closing here, but for some reason I think we have two in town. Or maybe the other one already closed before. Publix dominates the market here, I think they have 14 stores here.

@thislittlepennyearns I have a Publix practically across the street from where I live. Easy-peasy shopping!

There was a Winn Dixie in Fredericksburg at one time, that one closed years ago. I think their prices are too high honestly. Publix is putting a lot of stores in this area..they seem to be expensive too. I wonder how they will do. I will go to the store opening to the one North of me though, because I went to one South of me..and they had fantastic half priced fried chicken.

Win Dixie has deals sometimes. But they are too over priced for me

We don't have Winn Dixie here but I have seen them when traveling. Didn't know they were in trouble. Did you see the movie Because of Winn Dixie?

The parent company sE grocers is closing a ton of their different stores. They are in trouble, probably because of Walmart. Yep and read the book..

I never liked Wynn Dixie. There prices are too high versus Publix and Walmart. I imagine they will fade away like Sweet Bay and Albertsons.

Are all the Albertson's gone? I heard that Publix was buying them out.

@thislittlepennyearns In the part of Florida I visit there are no more. I think you are right. At least Publix bought out the Albertsons in the area I stayed.
