When traffic lights cause traffic

An intersection that we usually go through has been recently given its own traffic lights and pedestrian lanes. You'd think that it is such a wonderful thing because finally people can cross the road without hesitation and car drivers would be more disciplined. But oh no. By the time the lights were installed, traffic got worse. And that only narrow road that we normally pass going to the main road now has a long line of slow moving cars. Our usual drive to school in the morning prior to these lights was 15 minutes. Now it takes us 30 minutes. I wish the authorities would look into this serious matter and find ways to actually make the traffic lights more convenient. When we didn't have it before, traffic was free flowing and drivers and pedestrians would usually take turns. Now it's at turtle's pace. Just when summer has commenced...

That is the same problem as ours. Instead of making having less traffic, the more it is pain in the butt when they installed those traffic lights which is sometimes not usable or the green light's time is up fast. So much burden to a lot of people.
