The MyLot Music Hall of Fame - Neil Young

I have, in a bit of brainstorming late one night, created the MyLot Music Hall of Fame, bestowing honor upon bands and artists that get regular play in music posts here on the site. Today, we pay tribute to the great Neil Young. Neil Young is already in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, twice, both as a solo artist, and as a member of Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young. And now, he's achieved MyLot immortality. Why? He gets a lot of usage in music discussions. @JolietJake (who has said that Young takes up the most space in his massive vinyl collection,) @amadeo , and @RasmaSandra have all featured him, I've used him, and I'm pretty sure that @FourWalls , @JohnRoberts , and even punk rocker @crossbones27 have all done at least one Neil Young tune, if my memory serves me (I'm getting old, but I'm pretty sure I am remembering correctly.) That's a lot of play for one guy! (Fun Fact: Did you know that Neil Young was once in a band called The Mynah Birds, with none other than Rick James? It's true!) Sure, the guy doesn't have the greatest voice, but it works. And face it: he has put out a hell of a lot of great music over the years. Keep on rockin' in the free world! (He's like a hurricane info verified by Wikipedia)

I could swear you've used him. I could be very wrong, of course.

I did do one a few I think One of the best songs ever made as far as I am concerned. Good choice buddy and another neat countdown. Think about all the musicians who said no when they were inducted into real hall of fame.

no hall of fame would be complete without him. My favourite is After The Goldrush

That's a good one. There used to be a bar in Denver named after this song.

“Love is a nose but you’d better not pick it.” Lousy voice, great songwriter. Of course, like Randy Newman, his voice works for him.

@teamfreak16 — don’t you have the feeling that Tom Waits has been pulling a joke on us all along, and in reality he’s got one of those booming Jim Nabors-like voices?

I love his musical style. Not one of my favorite songs but I enjoy listening to it anyway. This talented man is now only 72 but he looks many years older.

Nope. You definitely know it's him as soon as he starts singing. I heard one day in the Manitou smoke shop, a reggae CD with a bunch of great guitar noodling. The guy told me it was Neil, but didn't tell me the name of the CD. It was great, but I can't find it because I don't know what to look for.

Neil Young is not one I have listened to much but I do like his music. Rick James? I did not know.

Yeah, Rick James was in the Navy and jumped ship in Canada, where he hooked up with Neil. I read it in Rolling Stone when I was in high school.

Saw Neil with Crazy Horse, fantastic! "Tonight's The Night" just one of many songs I like. Whether he is doing acoustic (which I love the best) or rockin' out he is one great artist! Canada really produces some great artists and "The Godfather of Grunge" is at the top of the list. PS- I did know about the Mynah Birds. That duo must of been interesting to hear....
