Yes...that's probably it...or it might have been the heart fluttering of my cat that distracted me. :-D

@Starmaiden My money is on the cat! I found a video on what pacifies a cat in heat for several hours... there's a pressure point near the base of the tail. You press on that when the tail is turned to the side, and the cat goes nuts. It basically satisfies the 'itch' and the cat gains satisfaction for a while, giving both of you peace until it wears off. Nothing inappropriate in touch or the like, but I'm sure it's awkward knowing what you are essentially doing.
