I knew...I knew...I knew it before scientists did their research and came up with mumbo jumbo explanations. I knew it rationally, naturally, logically ..whatever way... God talks less. He is hardly going to tell a single human everything that is needed to tell. But human ego does not want to admit they don't know the answer, and they want to say god told them so that others obey. And from there starts brain suppression. If all things were black and white, there wouldn't be so many cases in the courts. And people wouldn't find jury duties so hard. So I accept god rationally, and admit, I am ignorant about many things. Your god is my god as is my god is my god. You may or may not believe in my god, no problem. My bank balance does not increase either way. LOL
A study published in the journal Neuropsychologia has shown that religious fundamentalism is, in part, the result of a functional impairment in a brain region known as the prefrontal cortex. The findings suggest that damage to particular areas of the prefr

A courageous post! Aren't you afraid of the wrath of the religious zealots here on the site?

In my opinion, religion is religion and psychology is psychology. I stick to what I believe, I say my prayers and that is my way of getting through this world. I don't care what some scientist suddenly came up with where religion is concerned. I think that is something very personal to each individual.

Our country is plagued with fundamental views of religion, and while compartmentalizing it is safer way to go about it, I cannot appreciate the attitude our religious leaders hold telling others that another religion is bad and what not. Or being silent about crimes or social problems that their religion creates. Each forcing their religion on another is height of it! When you say it is personal, it is perfect way to follow it, because your thinking process will lead you to God. But if another person were to tell you, no this is the only religion, you don't know anything, it can get annoying and even throw you as far away from the religion as possible, right? Oddities and unexplained stuff are part and parcel of every religion! Forcing others to accept or ridicule those in another religion is what I mean by being fanatical and fundamentalist.

@vandana7 so I guess it is best just to keep quiet, keep to your faith and believe what you believe individually.

@vandana7 How true! I must confess before BJP came to power, I never felt or thought myself as minority. There are many like me that are made to feel this. Isn't that concerning for the state and fate of our country? The word "terrorist" is being used casually and liberally like it is just another word.

I find religion to be more of a human need to get followers. I do not follow anyone, I am spiritual and believe there is an omnipotent spirit who watches over the domain of Nature. Maybe some of those who claim to hear God are skitsophrenic, it could happen, right?

Religious fanatics are nothing more than "fanatics", so they are dangerous.

Our country is full of Hindu and Muslim fanatics. The other day I struggled with a Hindu fanatic even though I am a Hindu. They just switch off their brains. That is not ok! That blocks correct reasoning. The guy was equating stripping of a person in epic to rape of that person. I said stripping, and he was saying that woman was not raped. But I never said that she was raped. Sigh..they are so confused and brain damaged that it is exhausting trying to talk sense with them. In another instance he was saying Muslims (I did not bring in muslims in the post, but Hindu fanatics are so obsessed with Muslims that some how they enter the post), have many wives and many children UNLIKE Hindus. Then I had to remind him that Hindus also had many wives in the past. And while having more children than what nation can afford is wrong, even Hindus have one too many. Oh no, he was not happy. LOL. He went hammer and tongs at us (theHousewife) calling us ISIS sympathizers and what not. Yeah...I am convinced logic takes a back seat when people don't want to reflect on religion and only follow it blindly.

@LadyDuck People have a right to follow religion. Tax payer has a right to decide what should be supported and what should not be supported because Bible does not speak of taxes and its utilization or government policies. So supporting families with more children than they can afford is not the government's job. The tax laws and slabs should be amended accordingly.

@vandana7 I know, fanatics are just fanatics. Still in our days, in developed and modern countries there are Christians who believe that children are a gift of God and they do nothing to control the birth. You see families with 10 children, they have no money and the community pay for their kids. Is this correct? I do not think so. People should be responsible. You have no money, stop having kids, I give you nothing.
