I mean its a necessity everyone needs water. It is a need why do some countries have to pay for it. In my country you have to pay for it and lots of it for a water bill. I feel it is unfair we should have it for free and not something you have to pay for. I know this world is unfair but I mean some people should really think about how it can affect people who are unable to work or even make a good amount of money to pay their bills.

Each person that lives in a place that needs water has to pay the bill or they will cut your water off. Our water bills come every two months and are not expensive. I pay in shekels and the amount varies and not the same all the time. I thought that was an interesting question.

Well, there are a lot of expenses in bringing water into your home. I feel it's actually a bargain considering they have to treat it, test it frequently, maintain the water lines that it travels through, and take care of the waste water coming out of your residence, too. They have to pay employees to do all that work and for the trucks (and their maintenance and gas) they use to get to various places to repair/replace water lines. And of course, there are all sorts of taxes on the service as well as the product. If you think about it that way you'll probably feel a little better about paying for it the water as well as the convenience and safety.
I pay an extra dollar each month towards a fund to help people in trouble pay for their water.

@bela360 The problem is that you would have to organize people. First find the real cost of providing water then find enough people to drop out of the program to significantly affect the company's profits. Then the prices would fall be necessity. People, though, are reluctant to organize and make a united front against injustice or price gouging. They are too self-interested and don't want to be inconvenienced. If you can organize people in this manner you could probably reduce your water prices to affordable limits while preserving the efficiency of the company providing it.

In my hometown, we don't have to pay our water because we use water jetmatic pump but here in the city, we need to pay our water bill as part of our monthly utility bills.
