Lessons Learned from Softball-#1

As I had blogged about at an early date, I am now coaching a softball team for the first time. My daughter loves the sport and wanted to play. They did not have enough coaches, so in order for them to have a team, I volunteered. When I take on a project, I am on board 100%. I wanted this journey to be about more than preparing twelve girls to be winning softball players. I wanted to take this opportunity to impart some life lessons as well. The first lesson I wanted to teach them was to "bloom where they are planted". Who all has read that story? Everyone should. It teaches a very important life lesson. I want each of these girls to realize that they are not accidents or just on the planet to take up space. I want them each to know that God has a special task for them and they were created uniquely and wonderfully. Sometimes life throws us curve balls and things don't always go as planned. But God can take those things and use us and make something beautiful of our lives. We have to embrace His plan and bloom where He plants us. I learned that the teacher, often, becomes the student. Coaching any kind of sports was never a part of my plan. It has never been a desire. I believe God allowed this, though, because it is all about a bigger plan. I am not sure of that plan yet, but I know that as I am teaching these girls to bloom, I, too, must bloom where I am planted. Right now that is on the sidelines of a softball field. ** The picture is my husband coaching. (He is one of my assistants).
