Sometime back I was getting so many calls from people trying to date me. I wondered how this could start happening and it became too much for me.
I got rude to those that called me but one of them was kind enough to tell me that my number had been put on a newspaper for those looking for 'LOVE'.
He also gave me the number of the person who was in charge of the advet.
Luckily I got him on phone and told him to remove my number there completely and though he got rude, he eventually removed it.
This got me wondering, do they pick the numbers randomly like guessing or how do they get these numbers?

don't you consider the thought that someone might have used your number as a prank?

That's terrible, How could it happen? I've never heard of it happening over here although we do get a lot of marketing calls.

@sprite1950 Sometimes I do not understand what they gain from scamming people where there is no monetary benefit

I remember the bathroom at a bar had people's numbers on it. Very bad thing. The walls needed washing so I told the owner they needed to paint over those numbers ASAP. I never went back to the bar to find out if the owner was paying any attention. But bars are no longer my thing. And graffiti on walls in bathrooms in public places even stores and schools and such are very common. Glad you got your number removed.

And the worst part is that some of these people just guess the numbers
