A new watch and a visit to the dentist

I’m having trouble thinking straight as I have to go to the dentist in a few minutes – just a scale and clean but who knows that he might find? But do you like my new watch? It came in the mail from China yesterday. I’m not sure how long it will last but, landed in Boyanup, Western Australia, it cost me $1.96 so I’m not going to complain if it doesn’t last for ages. See you when I return.

@infatuatedbby I can't imagine how they made a profit from such a price.

How can they possibly make watches for this price, let alone post them to Australia.

The watch is nice but can't be sure of the quality. It is cheap and from China so, I'm glad you are not expecting too much.

Oooh, that is pretty watch, it is very different. Even if it doesn't last that long, it would still be a pretty accessory.

@JudyEv give it until 3 months, if it lasts more than 3 months you got a jackpot.

It looks very nice for the price. I have one very old, similar, but in gold. It was the one of my grandmother.

@JudyEv I did not realize at first that it always stopped on the same time. I even had the watch cleaned thinking that dust was the problem, but it always stops.

@LadyDuck I'd be keeping it as it is too. That is weird that it stops like it does.

The clasp would worry me if Pretty were to wear that watch, Judy... maybe you are more careful with watches than she is? Otherwise, for not even two bucks, it looks very nice... (smiling) How did your dental appointment go? I had to have some dental work done lately... I shattered a molar so am wearing a temporary crown right now. The permanent crown should be at the dentist's office in another week. (I hate the part where he pulls off the temp crown to put the permanent crown in place. This is my second crown.)

I used to wear my old watch all the time but I might just wear this one when I go out. I have to have a crown at some stage but not for a month or two. My insurance only covers one crown a year or something.

@JudyEv I wear a watch all the time... I have to replace it about every nine months or so because I have too much electricity in my body. Watches always start speeding up at about the nine month mark with me... Hmmm... my insurance only covers about half the cost of a new crown. I just paid $438 for my half of this one.

@DaddyEvil Our insurance is about the same but they'll only pay for one crown as year so I'll wait till June to have mine done. I think it will cost me about $600.

@judyev Hope all went well at the dentist. It’s horrible that an unwanted and at times unpleasant outing costs so much.

@JudyEv I always wonder when expensive treatment is required if I’ll live long enough to get the good out of it. I’d be furious if I paid out big money and then promptly expired.

@xFiacre At 99 3/4 we wanted to buy our Mum a new blouse for her 100th birthday. She wasn't very keen saying she'd only need it a few months. As it happened, she lived to 104. Maybe I should go for dentures. A crown can't be passed on but perhaps my dentures could.

I also ordered a watch from China a few years ago. I liked it and looked great. It didn't last too long, as far as I remember I could use it for a year. But the price was the same (something between 1-2$. It totally worth the price.

So 12 months use would be good. I can afford $2 a year for watches. I could even buy it with my myLot earnings!

@JudyEv Sure! I always think this when I order something from China. If it can work for a few months or a year, I am satisfied with their prices.
