In 1979 the biggest song was “My Sharona” by The Knack. It got on the Billboard Hot 100 and stayed there for six weeks. I have no idea why I particularly love this song but I do. It was on their album Get the Knack. The Recording Industry Association certified the song gold after it sold a million copies. The Song of the Year was “Just the Way You Are” by Billy Joel. I love many songs by Joel and this is one of them I am just not a huge fan of this song. The song was on his 1977 album The Stranger and became his first gold single in the U.S. It also won two Grammy Awards for Record of the Year and for Song of the Year. The best song of this year was “Don’t Stop Til’ You Get Enough” by Michael Jackson. It was on his album Off the Wall. Cannot say much about it because I never knew this song. Michael Jackson fans will know more about it. This song was written by Jackson and his first single to rise to number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, staying there for six weeks. It has both a gold and platinum certification. What is your opinion of these songs and the artists?
