There's a saying, 'We eat what we like, but we wear what others want us to.'
I always loved western dresses but I couldn't wear them just because what my society will think about me. Besides, my family is conservative. So, I prefer to wear ethnic dresses that are elegant.
Are you too like me?

No I wear what I like and it is easier since I have no specified ethnic clothing.

Only if I ask them for their opinion, which is hardly ever. :-)

I'm not into fashion but sometimes it's Mom that kept asking me if she was wearing a good dress.

Never heard that saying before. But I am from another Country where most wear whatever they want.

I choose myself what to wear. This is very bad in someone can influence a person if he/she is more than 18y.o.
Society is nobody. Family also should not have that power, otherwise, he/she will always stay their child and will lose his/her chance to be an adult. Old ages will come fast, so it is good to enjoy the moment of being and behaving right for a certain age.
Elegance is good only for some cases, not 24/7. It is important to be dressed according to an occasion - sporty for a picnic in the forest, sophisticated for an opera in the theatre, sexy on a beach, chicky in the club, and so on.

I completely agree with you. But, I consider the opinions of my family to certain extent while buying.

I can wear anything I like inside the house only, but when I go out , I need to wear what others want to wear me like decent clothes.

I don't follow fashion and choose what I like to wear . . . I like variety - which goes from conservative to eccentric. I just make sure I'm at least neat in appearance and appropriate for the occasion . . . that part I guess I do think about how others would think of me.
