I am so proud of my friend!

A friend of mine and fellow advocate/activist for Social reform just secured a long worked for victory. He has been working toward ending the Child Support Clawback that the Department of Community Services in my Province has instigated towards single mothers on Assistance. Today he has won the battle! The Province came out with the budget for 2018 and it states that the Clawback in child support will no longer apply. I am so proud that he has accomplished this feat. Nova Scotia is the third Canadian Province to end the clawback on child support. This is what can happen when people step up and use their voices to promote change. :-D

@Starmaiden Why did they implement Clawback anyway? Glad for the mothers, though..

Child Support Clawback is when the department of Community Services removes the amount of child support paid by the father from the monthly check of the single mother on assistance. Now that the clawback has ended the mother is entitled to keep the money paid by the father as well as her full monthly assistance check. :-)

@sol_cee The only answer I have for that question is it's another way for the government to keep the impoverished opressed. They allow no room for anyone in need of assistance to get ahead in life. They will cut a person off of assistance if that person went to school on a student loan to better themselves. It is insanity at its worst. :-)
