Will not make the playoffs

I have been a Chicago Blackhawks fan for years. I use to go to the games at Chicago Stadium as a kid, even though they had a lot of bad years I stuck with them. The last nine years they have made the playoffs and won 3 Stanley Cups. This year has been really trying as a fan, they have look really bad and have lost more than they have won. They were mathmatically eliminated from the playoffs on Tuesdays loss. Although if you are a fan you probably knew this a month or two ago. Of course with the season they have had people are pointing in every direction on who or what is to blame for this season. There is talk of who should be fired and what players need to go. There are things like long term contracts, trades that didn't work out, a lot of young guys that just are not developed yet and older players who have lost a step or two. Personally I feel the long term contracts have really hurt them. There are guys who have long term contracts with no trade clause which means even though they were really good back when the contract was signed they are in their 30's now and for hockey that is getting really old. They have lost a step or two and just are not what they were 4-5 years ago. The salary cap is another big issue with the team, they have traded good players away cause they just couldn't afford to have them on the team. They have brought in a few decent players, but they are young and not developed to the point they need to be. I wont give up on them but I am really hoping this off season they make some better moves to get back on track. I really hope the players find the will to win again.

I don't understand why everyone is pushing the panic button. One season out of ten they don't make the playoffs? That's a 90% success rate! PLUS three Stanley Cup championships in the mix! C'mon, fans!

Well, it's all about winning. When you lose in the professional sports it is all about fixing the issue right now. I'm just disappointed in their play, just seemed like there were to many games that players just were not giving 100%. Of course that is easy for me to say while I'm sitting on my couch.

@Bensen32 -- yeah, I know. The Indians fired Mike Hargrove in the 90s after he got them to the playoffs all decade long (but couldn't win the World Series). Two winning managers were fired after the baseball season ended last year (and yet the Reds keep a manager with a .570 LOSING percentage). I'm sure it's just a "hiccup" or a "down year." At least, I hope so. I have a lot of friends in Chicago.
