SWAK

Good Thursday evening to all. How is everyone? I have just arrived home and I am now sitting on my bed. A song was played from a distance and it is this song's abbreviation that is often printed at the back of an airmail envelop long before emails were discovered: "Sealed With A Kiss" or SWAK. Sometimes a love letter written in a fragrant/scented rose pink paper and put in a more fragrant pink envelop signifies love, admiration, and the beginning of courtship. Did you ever receive a love letter with the SWAK printed at the back of the envelope?

I haven't heard about this custom. Yet, what I've heard recently is that letter and postcard writing is becoming obsolete. It's e-mail, facebook, twitter or other media now. Pity!

that is true. a dear friend sent me 2 cards for my birthday and Christmas, but the mails haven't arrived yet. i believe the post office here do not have many mails to deliver because of the emails and social media where communications are done.

Ah, yes! I used to send letter SWAK of lipstick to my boyfriend. He's now my husband, and I seal every card to him with a kiss.

@ridingbet Oh, that's so sweet! Times have certainly changed. It's a shame.

@DianneN true. the youth of today do not seem to know what their grandparents or parents have learned.

i think the new generation does not know about this manner of 'sealing our letters with kisses' to those we send letters to. social media is killing the practices that we have had before. for me, i also printed the SWAK and another abbreviation of SWAR, which meant SEALED WITH A REGARDS! heheh. i and my BFF wrote the SWAR even when i was seated in front and she at the last row, and we sent short letters to each other while discussions in class were ongoing.

Before these SWAK letters were all appreciated by others because we believed in the power of the kisses sealing the letters. So unfortunate this is not done now.
