Call Me

In the year 1980 I was still dancing to songs that were from the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s. It was hard to let another decade go by but it did bring one of my favorite bands and that was Blondie. That year the biggest song was “Call Me” by Blondie. This song stayed on the Billboard Hot 100 for six weeks. It was also the theme song to the 1980 movie “American Gigolo”.
The Song of the Year was “What a Fool Believes” by the Doobie Brothers. This song won for Record of the Year and Best Arrangement Accompanying Vocals. First of all I don’t have any idea what a fool believes and second I have no idea if I ever heard this song before but it must have been popular.
The best song of 1980 was “Love Will Tear Us Apart” by Joy Division. This song was by an English post-punk band. When band member Ian Curtis committed suicide his wife had the words Love Will Tear Us Apart inscribed on his tombstone.
What do you think of these songs and artists?

Pretty interesting and in at least in those years most music deserved where they were placed as for as billboard. Now it seems like who cares,.can we really trust all these artists in the top 100. 10 to 20 percent at most is my opinion.

I am going through the years and I know that once I hit the 2000s things are going to get strange for me but it will be an interesting learning experience @crossbones27 I mean right now I am listening to my favorites list on YouTube and I can tell you there are a lot of my oldies favorites.

@RasmaSandra Yeah some of the 90's maybe a little more than previous decades is where you can see music started to sell out. Then 2000's is where they did sell out all the way in my opinion, but again some people like that music also. My one friend likes pretty much any music that is on the radio because it made the radio. Try to explain to him, its not the quality it used to be, but he does not care.
