So, yesterday, I got a chance to do a bit of shopping in one of my favorite areas that has all the stors I like clustered into one area. I was in Aldi when I decided to compare the carb content of knock off cr cereal. I compared the peanut butter cocoa knock off (kids) cereal with the special K with red berry cereal. The Special K cereal had about a third higher carbs then the peanut butter cocoa cereal!. I was rather surprised but I wanted the PB cocoa cereal anyway, so I guess the morale of the story is compare cereals for sugar and carb content. Have you ever been surprised by cereal results?

Only surprises I get from cereal, is the prices! Those things are outrageous least here.
Glad the one you wanted was the better one.

Oh yeah, cereal prices are fairly outrageous. I usually stick to special deals or knock off brands.

sounds a good way to shop. I would usually choose simply the cheaper option available

They were about 10 cents apart, I chose the lower carb variety.

Yes, but I didn't have that option available to me at the time.

@snowy22315 pretty crazy that special K which is supposed to be so much healthier had so many more carbs then the pb cocoa one. I don't care for sugary cereals. My kids like to try new ones but then hate them so I get stuck eating them and hating it lol

@shaggin oh oh well. I might try the PB cocoa ones tonight for my evening snack. I mean the real Special K might have been better in terms of carbs, calories..

@snowy22315 Excessive sugar it's not only a problem of weight. I do not want to become diabetics and I do not even like cereals.

Yes, you really have to look at the labels. Some cereals that might be healthy in some respects like lots of fiber, also contain lots of carbs and our sugar so you need to look.

Yes! But all of them run my blood sugar up so I do not eat them.

I was blessed with a good metabolism in that way. My blood sugar is never too high or too low no matter what I eat. I think it is an inherited thing.

Cereal is mostly sugar and it should not be as high as it is.

It really depends on the type, not all cereals are high in sugar. I do defintely agree they are very expensive though..especially the name brand types.
