Are Easter eggs a waste of money ?

Are you planning on buying any Easter eggs this year ? If so, who are they going to be for ? I must admit that I think that Easter eggs are a rip off...way too much money for the amount of actual chocolate that you get. I would much prefer a bar of chocolate. There are no children around that I have to buy for so I am not buying any this year. ( unless I get them for pennies in the sale after Easter !!!)

I love chocolate bars. Do you also celebrate this activity?

@anikoonline I personally think that kiddies need to experience it. They have something to tell in the future.

@Shavkat Yes, and it is fun for the kids. They enjoy the different colorful packaged Easter eggs and bunnies. I think celebrating (Easter, Christmas, Birthday, etc.) are important for them.

Easter is not out official festival here and we don't celebrate it. However, I don't think it is a kind of wasting money to buy Easter eggs. We shall buy something nice and eat something good in the festivals and this is the meaning of celebration.

Since I dont have kids at home anymore I wait until after Easter and load up. I do the same thing for Valentines day and Halloween. I can get a cheap chocolate fix those times of the year

I've bought two chocolate bunnies for two girls in our house, 3 1/2 and 1 1/2 years old. Of course, they're expensive, but Easter is only once a year.

There not expensive if you know where to shop. I will be making Easter baskets. One for a co worker who is pregnant. One for the other half. One for our nephew whose birthday is the day before Easter and I already made my nieces.

I haven't bought the Easter Eggs yet, but I will. I have to buy two for children that will be expensive, but Easter is important for children. And I will buy a package that contains small Eggs. I can give them to my friends, collegues, family.

Since my children have left the nest I don't celebrate Easter with candy any more. If I have grandchildren any time in the future I may get back into it. Sometimes I'll purchase a solid chocolate bunny after Easter when they are on sale and indulge. :-)

Like you, I would prefer to buy a block of chocolate. Much better value. If there were small kids involved I would probably buy eggs, but only small ones.
