My Hallmark moment

I held the envelope with its card inside in the way I would hold a fragile egg. Mail for me from my Mom. I am pretty positive that the sister that lives with Mom coached Mom into doing such a fine job on addressing the envelope. But... that handwriting. And not shaky. Handwriting that has been with me my entire life. Precious. An Easter card from Mom. That simple gesture....A life time of memories behind it. For a few years Mom and I were more friends than Mom and daughter. We shared hiking paths and tea rooms and young plants growing up and of course cats. All that bubbled from a little envelope, there in the mail box, waiting for me. Thanks, Mom! You got it right.... other times you've written the person's name and then put the wrong state on. But this time you wrote strong and true and right on. Thanks, Mom.

That card is extra special! You once mentioned that your mom was quite elderly. I'm so happy for her and you!!!

@sallypup Lenore, that was nice of your sister to coax your Mom to write to you and send you a card. I hope you have a nice holiday.

@Hannihar I admire you your faith. I am not a Christian in the common way of thinking. I call this time of year a "season of renewal" because for me the days are warming and the earth is greening. The deeper, spiritual core calls to me to get out and participate, digging in the dirt and watching the plants begin to leaf.

@celticeagle She just keeps plugging along- though she is at the stage where she wants to go to her childhood home and thinks it is just down the block.

I made Easter cards for all of my adult children and send them out yesterday. I know they will love them.

@sallypup That is so true with three of my kids. They still act childish. Of course they are still in their 20's.

@jstory07 One of my sisters does Stampin Up crafty stuff so once in a while I get one of her cards in the mail. That's wonderful that you are remembering your kids. We never really grow up.

So glad that you have that precious envelope with you right now. Preserve it . My parents are both gone and I have kept quite a few letters from them over the years. Once in a while, I read them again.

@marlina I'm tidying/ down sizing/tossing and donating right now. This activity shuffles me right down memory lane. It also brings me smack against: throw this? Keep this? Drown myself in old cards and letters that have precious handwriting etc in them? Hard decisions being made here for sure.

@marlina What a heart grab. I have tossed a few things but probably need to get firmer. I sure am my Mom's daughter. Good on ya for having the grit to select and toss.

@DeborahDiane This used to be a small thing but now its huge, remembering how to write an envelope so that its done right and the name and address itself etc.

@sallypup - It is sad to realize how easily we can forget how to do such simple things as we get older.
