Day Twenty Four: Talk about your pets, pets you've had, and or pets you would like to have. Well, as most here know, I / we have a cat. We've had him for six years next month. And although he is a pain in the butt sometimes, especially in the early mornings.. he is also cuddly and funny. But, he is not my first cat. Least not in my moms eyes. As when she was pregnant with me she had a cat, and then she got a kitten for me when I was around 4 months. I obviously don't remember that, and couldn't take care of a cat/kitten as an infant, so I myself don't count it. Now in my lifetime, we've also had probably 200 fish - goldfish, mickey fish, neon fish etc. Plus about 80 hamsters, due to them both always having babies . And when my Aunt, her husband and their three kids lived with us for a year or two, her husband stupidly got an iguana - without my moms permission, so I guess we can count that. And as for pets I would like to have.. I have always wanted a puppy, but only a beagle or golden retriever. (Thankfully, my fiancé has always wanted the same!) And I hope to one day get one or both. I've also wanted a pet penguin, which obviously would never happen.. but they're just so cute!! LOL.

I used to have a pet rock, does that count? He really made me angry though, because all he did was sit around and watch TV all day! My daughter wants a hedgehog. Not gonna lie, I kind of think that would be a cool pet. Either that, or a chinchilla.

First of all, I love penguins. I think they are adorable all dressed up in their tuxedos. I have always had dogs. One dog that I had used to smile when she ate her dog food. She loved her dog food and her tail would way and she looked like it was the best thing she ever ate. When I was a child I had a rabbit called Snow White she was a beautiful little bunny. Unfortunately she would chew her way out of her cage. One day a dog got her as she was running across the yard. I used to want a monkey. A neighbor had one and I thought it was adorable.

@Courtlynn I know, it broke my heart. We buried her in our back yard. I have always loved penguins. Looking back I am kind of glad I didn't have a monkey, I understand they can be mean.

I always wanted a pet monkey as a kid! Lol. But might actually be scary to have. Though, squrriel monkeys look so cute! Penguins are too cute for words. Lol. Aw poor snow white!.

I grew up on a family farm, and we always had lots of cats on the farm. Some were wild, they were barn cats, and whenever they had their kittens I'd always try to get close enough to hold one of them, but just as soon as I thought that would happen, I'd go out and the mother would have moved her kittens. They liked to keep them hidden. We had a dog that we got as a pup for our son. We basically raised our son with the dog. Her name was Nayla, actually her full name was Princess Nayla Marie. And she was a humog, 49% human and 51% canine, and really.......that is a lot more human then some are on most days. I miss her, and think about her every night when I crawl into bed. She had to be put down 9 years ago and my heart still aches for her.

I have had too many cats to mention over the years. Also several dogs, a guinea pig, countless goldfish, and at one time some frogs that my brothers caught. I also had a bird once, a blue jay, which was injured so I kept it as a pet. Sadly it didn't live long.

My greatgrandmother had about 50 cats throughout her adult life. Plus chickens and stuff. Ugh crazy cat ladys, lol. Poor blue Jay!

We got Annie when she was four weeks old. The people lied and said she was six weeks old. They were moving and needed to get rid of the puppies. They lied about her breed too. They said she was German Shepard and St. Bernard. She had spaniel freckles and looked like a spaniel. Annie slept for two weeks and then wiggled herself alive. She loved bananas and adventure. We loved on Annie for the 12 years that she lived. Cancer got her in the end. I wanted to post a photo of her but can't find it in my files.

@Courtlynn It has been years. I never got another pet, mostly because of where I live. Pets are allowed but the place is flearidden and people blame each other for puppy piles and barking dogs. Plus, when we travel, we don't have to worry about boarding a pet or wondering how a sitter is treating it.

All through my childhood and early married life we had dogs. I am now in a rental property with a lease that does not allow pets, but I often "critter sit" for friends, so get to care for a selection of cats, dogs, and chickens.

We aren't allowed pets either, unless we have letters from therapist saying they will help us, which we have to have the cat. Though many people here have cats and even dogs without letters...

@Courtlynn The Victorian state government brought in a law last year that makes it illegal for landlords to prohibit tenants from having pets. I think it's supposed to come into effect later this year, so it will be interesting to see what develops from that.
