I hadn't been bowling since I was a teenager, and I'm not even sure how often that was. Bowling was an option in college as a P.E. course, but I didn't take it. A friend and I had talked about what to do when she got into town last weekend, and we decided to go bowling. There is a place nearby that has laser tag, a ropes course, an arcade, and bowling all available in one building. We bowled on the second floor, which is just for people aged 21 and older. So we went up there and we came at a good time because it was just two other people nearby. I did so poorly in the first game!. I scored my age: 37! I did much better in the second game. For some absentminded reason, I had forgotten a pair of socks. They sell them there for two dollars. I really just wanted to bowl in my own shoes, but of course they make you wear the ones they provide. After we were done we walked around to see what everything else looked like. One time around the arcade was enough for us. I have never heard so much noise, and I think it was worse because the arcade was enclosed in a relatively small space. And, you know, that makes it even louder than normal. We had a good time. It's funny how we might have looked at bowling as boring when we were younger, but we had a great time as adults. The picture is my rather poor attempt at showing the space where we were. Tell me about the last time you were bowling. Or about something you might have thought of as boring earlier, but now it's fun. Anyone besides me get the lightest ball to use because they have back problems?

I hate using bowling alley shoes, although its part of the bowling "experience", so I'm very glad my brother bought my mom a new pair of bowling shoes two or three years ago because now I use her old ones when we go bowling. I've always loved bowling, as do all my nieces and nephews who are still little, which is great. We play with the small balls, so easy on the back no matter what, thankfully. But I do use the lightest ball when I do the big balls, thought isn't often maybe 2 times every 5 years lol

@AmbiePam The bowling shoes are to protect the lane. It is very expensive to keep them up and using bowling shoes makes sure that no one comes in with dirt and gravel embedded or tar or gum or anything on them that could transfer to the wood.

I'm hoping when my sister and her family come here for vacation they will take Amyra bowling with us. She has never been bowling, and I really want to see her face the first time she does. Do you think those bowling shoes are really safer than say, sneakers? I think most shoes, without a big heel, would be fine.

@AmbiePam honestly, couldn't tell you. but they have flat bottoms, no prints on the bottom like sneakers and such do. So maybe that's why.. I don't know.

It has been a very long time since I bowled. Yes, I always thought it was a boring game. I've always gotten the lightest or almost lightest ball. I still don't see bowling as something I would do on a Saturday night.

I think it really was just the chance to talk and joke with each other. Because when it came down to it, I didn't care how I did, which was good since I stunk!

@just4him You know, if Heaven had bowling I cannot imagine how cool that would be.

@AmbiePam My scores are bad too. My father bowled leagues from the time he was in high school until a couple years before he went into assisted living. My brother also bowled. They did really good. Both are in heaven now.

When we went to Minnesota last month we went bowling. I think Curtis and Josiah had never been. I think Hallie and Lahna Mae had been a time or two. My son in law is off on Mondays and he found us a great deal for $1 a game and dollar shoes for those who did not have them, which was the kids. I think we all bowled for less than twenty five dollars, two games. Eight people. It was a blast watching the kids.

Regular bowling alleys seem few and far between.

I went bowling a few weeks ago as a fundraiser for work. They do it once a year and that's about how often I go. It can be fun with the right people.

I like a 10 pound ball, that works well for me. I am a rather good bowler we played in leagues for years.

I have not gone bowling in years. I don't even think I noticed how heavy the ball was. I just was not good at it. That I remember.

I haven't gone bowling in a long time. We went bowling one year on New Years Eve, with another couple and their daughter and us and our son. We went out for Chinese food for supper first and then rock and bowl. It was a lot of fun. I always looked for the lightest ball. Mostly because I don't possess a lot of strength and when they see a small person they automatically think that she'll want a light ball.
