Today I walked towards the elevator just to realize that its OUT OF ORDER.
I had to use the stairs to reach the 5th floor.
It felt like climbing the Everest because I was absolutely tried.
It was also because I am use to the elevator and not using the stairs.
Do you use the Stairs or Elevator's in your daily routine.

While climbing down I use stairs invariably. If there is rush outside, I do not mind climbing stairs.

@kavinitu Thanks. I was not active for last few months, due to some personal commitments.
Yes, climbing down is easier and if you are climbing down from say 5th floor, it may take same duration of time, in comparison to an elevator, because the elevator may stop in between.

@dpk262006 Yeah and at times there some mischievous people who press all the figures to all the floors so the lifts stops at all the floors taking more time then what would take using the stairs

My house is on 2nd floor, so sometimes I use stairs when elevators are taking too much time.
However, my offfice workplace is at 5th floor and i do prefer elevator.
But, I agree with the frequent use of elevators, we face tough time when we have to use stairs sometimes.
There used to be time when I used to climb 100 stairs just for our house everytime while coming going out of flat.

My home has four flights of stairs counting the basement and attic. I climb 2-3 flights multiple times a day. In Florida, we have an elevator and stairs. I always try to take the stairs to our third floor unit, even after my morning walks and bike rides.

I live in the country, and there is nowhere I visit on a regular basis that has elevators. However, there was an incident about 20 years ago that put me off the idea of high-rise living forever. I was baby sitting in one of the high-rise hotels on the Gold Coast in Queensland. We were on the 34th floor. While I was there the fire alarms in the building went off. That meant we could not use the elevators, and I had to get 2 small children down 34 flights of steps. When we got to the ground, we found it had been a false alarm, and we went back upstairs (mercifully, in the elevators.) We had no sooner got back in the apartment than the alarms went off again, and it was back down all those stairs with the 2 kids. It turned out that when we had evacuated the first time, someone had rushed out and forgotten to turn the toaster off. Fortunately there was no damage, and no more alarms.

Oh my Lynn, that was really horrifying experience getting down 34 floors with two kids and that to with a fear that there is an fire in the building I just can't imagine being in your position and later realizing that it was a false alarm. Was the person responsible for the whole situation confronted for his negligence? That incident could be devastating to someones health specially to a person like you who had to take two small children all the way down 34 floors. I actually don't understand learning about your incident that I should praise you for your brave efforts or be sorry for what happened with you was due to a false alarm.

@kavinitu Looking back at it, it's funny, particularly the second run. But it wasn't so funny at the time, and the parents of the kids were not at all impressed when they got home and found out. I think they moved next day to an apartment on a lower floor. (They were there on holiday, not living there permanently.) Don't know what happened about the person who caused the alarm.
