Today was a busy day, despite my best intentions. I had a meeting with my therapist late in the morning. Afterwards, J was hankering for some dumplings, so off we went in the midday mob to Palace Dumplings. As any fan of Chinese food knows, the best places are those little holes-in-the-wall shops, where there are simple and few seating arrangements, there's a slight haze coming from the kitchen and maybe some cheap Chinese prints on the walls. And they are pretty much the best bet unless you're lucky enough to live in a city where there is an actual Chinatown. And the kicker is when the menu is in Chinese and English. This place pretty much does just one thing: Dumplings. Pretty much like pot-stickers, you can get them with all sorts of flavour combinations and fried or steamed. They have a choice of soup, and I stayed with the traditional wonton soup and a plate of beef and onion fried dumplings. The second stop of the day was at Barnes and Noble, and for once, I didn't buy anything. Usually I can't escape a bookstore without dropping a triple digit sum. I did look at one of the Nooks, as the one I have is old and dying. After that, J stopped at the Harbour Freight buying things, and I stayed in the car as this is the equivilent of Hell for me. The stop after that was The Pastry Garden, possibly the best pastry shop outside of The City in the Hudson Valley. After that, I was pretty much dead, with aching back and hip, but J was after more stuff and a further stop at Home Depot. After all this, I am amazed that I am not asleep now, but I did manage to watch the premiere of The Terror, a series on AMC. Now to bed. Thank god I don't have to be anywhere tomorrow.

I will admit that the first two hours were pretty slow of the Terror. But the production values were excellent.

The dumplings were marvelous. J was doing all of the shopping for once.
