Movie Review - Paul the Apostle of Jesus Christ

I was to meet my friend twenty minutes before the movie started, but she didn't show up.
Tuesday is $5 Tuesday for all Marcus theaters, which makes it very easy on the pocketbook. I saw a lot of people showing up for a movie, and it turned out most of the people were going to the same movie I was. When I stopped waiting for my friend and went into the theater, I had to find a seat, which was very different. Usually when I've gone to the movie on a weekday morning or afternoon, I'm almost alone in the theater. Not this time.
I was wrong about who played Paul - he was played by James Faulkner. Luke was played by Jim Caviezel, the same person who portrayed Jesus in the Passion of Christ.
Paul is in Mamertine prison in Rome, and Luke is going to see him for his last words of wisdom before Paul's death.
Paul's story follows closely the accounts of the Bible. It was clear this was not another of Hollywood's attempts on showcasing Christianity with their spin on it. This movie portrayed the Truth, along with a close look at what Rome was like in 67 A.D.
My favorite line in the movie was a comment Paul made to the Prefect of the prison when he told Paul he hoped he would not be disappointed that he didn't become a Christian. Paul said, "I was not trying to convince you." To me that is a powerful statement because Christians are not trying to convince anyone to become a Christian, we are only stating the truth of the Bible and allow people to make up their own minds.
I recommend this movie. I give it two thumbs up. It is rated PG. There is some violence, and implied violence, but such were the times, when Emperor Nero was blaming Christians for burning Rome to the ground, and putting them to death in the circuses.
Thanks for reading.

She said she didn't have the finances, which was a shame, because I paid for the ticket and had to get it refunded.

@thislittlepennyearns I didn't have my phone with me, it was on the charger at home, so I didn't get the text message until I got home.

@just4him she should of told you that instead of just not showing up. Especially since you had already paid for the tickets.

I hadn't heard of that movie... but we have Marcus here too, small world.
I enjoy the fact that they didn't take much liberty with the story - unlike "Noah" ( or what was the title of it?) some years ago

So true...it is not about convincing. It is not my word. It is the precious Word of God.
