Haven’t been up to anything exciting but a little update here

It’s been longer then I realized since I last posted so I figured I’ve give a little update... which turned into a long post sorry. I’ve been on a cooking kick and have tried 11 new recipes. Of those I only liked 4. My favorite was Mini Pepper Pizzas. I saw all this information on the heath benefits of beets and decided to try making some smoothies with them. Terrible idea they are gross and no matter what I add to the smoothies it doesn’t mask that beet taste All this cooking has led to extra dishes to wash which that alone take up quite a bit of my free time to mylot. My daughters top eye lashes have been curling into her eye so I took her to the eye doctor. They couldn’t get her in to be seen for a week and her lashes were fine that day. She had an eye exam and was able to pick out new glasses but there was barely any in stock so we have to stop by again in a few weeks to look. My daughter has made it onto the National Junior Honor Society at school. If you knew how poorly I did in school this would truly amaze you to see this is my kid who takes her grades so seriously and is so smart. The puppy was supposed to get fixed tomorrow but the vet had to postpone as her assistant is ill. Lastly I finally finished reading another book. This is only my 4th for the year. It was called Ice Cold by Tess Gerritsen. It’s a Rizzoli & Isles novel which I guess is some tv series? Anyway I loved the book and am 1/4 of the way through another book by her. Photo is of my puppy trying to tell me how bored she is while my son and I do the cyber school.

Beets are very bad if you suffer of kidney stones, keep this in mind before exceeding eating beets. I do not eat beets anymore.

@LadyDuck hmm well I am pretty sure I did have stones once but I didn't go to the doctor. I do have light kidney damage though so good thing you mentioned this. Kale is not good for those who get kidney stones either which is okay because I hate kale anyway.

@LadyDuck is that when you learned beets and kale can make kidney stones worse?

@shaggin Exactly, also kale is not good, it's another thing I never eat. I had to go to see the doctor because I was in so much pain that no medications I had at home worked to stop the pain.

Cute pup! Yes, Rizzoli and Isles is a TV series. Loads of fun. I am trying to eat beets, too. I made a tasty orange and beet salad that hubby voted to have again. Go get your big pup surgery, little guy. You can do it.

@shaggin Lettuce under the beets and orange slices. I'm trying to remember. I made a dressing that had rice vinegar in it to go over.

@DianneN She's so fun! She thinks I'm dumb and doesn't know what she wants so she brings me a bunch of toys and whines and tries to get me to throw them for her.

That's a cute little puppy. Is she a particular breed? I've forgotten if you have told us or not. And congratulations to your daughter too on her good results.

@JudyEv the mother of this puppy is Jack Russell, Pekingese and Chihuahua. They didn't know what the father was but they were guessing a beagel. She's small and perfect for our little house.

@Hazysue I didn’t even realize they had a junior national honor society at our school so this was a huge surprises. You only have to make honor roll to be on it but she makes high honors.

Again, I want that puppy!. LOL. Yay for good grades! Sorry about her eyelashes though! Hope that stops bothering her soon. Yes, that's a tv show - or was. No idea if they still make episodes for it. Glad you liked some of the new food you made, least that's a plus.

@Courtlynn yep at least not all of the recipes were bad lol The doctor said for her to wear mascara to help train her eyelashes to go the correct direction. She doesn't want to though so for now she is just trying to brush them up with her finger when they are wet out of the shower. She tried using an eye lashes curler but with the nystagmus she was born with it is very hard for her to see well enough to use them or eyeliner etc which would be tricky to do mascara as well.

@shaggin Yeah, I'm not a fan of mascara myself. I only wear eyeliner, and that's barely these days itself. Hope that continues to work for her.

@Courtlynn I wear a lot of makeup I have since I was about 12. My daughter not feeling like she has to wear makeup makes me happy! I am very self conscious and the makeup helps me feel slightly more confident. My mother said I was plain and needed to wear it. I can't imagine telling my own child that.

I haven't posted here for a while either since I was on vacation and was sick the past few days so I am here now. I am also reading a book called "The Secret." I barely started it though but I bought it a while back. I do like to try new recipes but I prefer desserts and sweets. I haven't tried doing anything yet but I do have in mind what I'd like to make.

@fearjp I've been here but just hadn't been here as much or written any posts myself. I was just commenting on others posts the past few weeks. I made a new smoothe recipe today and remade a recipe from the other day to make it better. My son and I loved it but my daughter didn't like the change. I love making sweets to but have been trying to eat healthier lately.

@Painsonslate thank you but I do think a lot of this is just her personality. She's always pushed herself to try to get the best grades etc. As long as she tries to do well that makes me happy. I was very bad in school I d a really hard time learning and remember things so I don't push my kids like some parents will ground their kids if they don't get a certain grade. No amount if grounding or punishment would have helped me. Testing me for a learning disability in math might have!

@Hannihar I wonder if the Rizzoli and Isles series is on Netflix I will have to check and see! My daughter hasn't had trouble with her eyelashes this week thankfully. The eye doctor said for her to use mascara to train her lashes to go in the right direction but she doesn't want to do that so for now when she gets out of the shower and her lashes are wet she curls them up with her finger.

@dgobucks226 the crust was a green pepper. I thought I would like it when I saw the recipe but was shocked just how good it was. The recipe was good but I made it again tonight and made it even better adding garlic salt and cheddar cheese. I could probably eat it everyday if I had more peppers

The puppy is adorable, what breed? Yeah, Rizzoli and Isles was a detective show..on the CW or one of those off channels. It ran for a few years. I read a book by Tess Gerritsen once. My mean neighbor from my last residence leant it to me. I wonder if it counts if you eat pickled eggs and beets? Not really a beet fan, the pickled variety is OK though

@snowy22315 the mother of my puppy is Jack Russell, Chihuahua and Pekingese. They don't know what the father was but they think maybe a beagle. I doubt the pickled eggs would really have the health benefits of beets. I am making pickled beets for the first time and turning them into deviled eggs for Easter dinner. I'm addicted to trying new recipes lately.

@maezee yes the taste of beets is odd and bad to me. I have another can I have to use up unfortunately so that means trying more recipes with it. I'm crossing my fingers for some good ones that will mask the taste of the beets.

@allknowing lol well not 11 new recipes in one day just since my last post that's what I've been doing. I have to wash all the dishes by hand. Usually one or two loads a day but with the extra recipes I've been making it's been two or three loads a day.
