kept picking the slow queue

first stop was at the atm. there were two side by side with two people each, one transacting, one waiting. i chose the one on the right. when the one who was waiting before i got there was finally doing his own transaction, i noticed it was taking forever. seems like he was withdrawing several amounts, insert card, punch keys, get money, insert card again. i moved to the left and when he finally finished, so did i. at the houseware section of the mall, i kept walking to find a cashier that had the shortest line. i was probably the fifth and i remember standing behind a male. somehow, when it was almost my turn, it became a woman. and she had numerous stuff to be scanned, big and small. she also had several people with her and they would discuss if they would buy this or that item or not. i gave up and left when i saw that there was also a wheeled trolley of several boxes of appliances to be scanned! it's like they're buying stuff for an empty house. most likely it will be charged to a credit card and that would take time, too. at the fastfood store, i lined up at a short line, hoping the ones before me would just be buying food for themselves, not for a table of family members. when it was almost my turn, the female before me was asking her friends, who already saved a table, more questions about their orders and the order-taker/cashier kept offering more options, so there was a lot of back and forth. thankfully, i learned that when it comes to the restrooms, it's better to go to the ones on the top/higher floors. there are less people there. are you good at picking out the short, fast lines? i guess suffering at a slow line is better than wasting time at the wrong line! are people disciplined when lining up where you are?

I hate waiting in line, I don't do atm transactions at all but I always see how long the queue is there. I don't usually go grocery shopping at peak hours or when it's too crowded. We have this store we visit where I just give my list to an attendant and she would just give that to the cashier and no waiting in line for me. The public restrooms are the worst here, there's no place where it isn't crowded at all.

in some malls, everyone lines up so that it's first come, first serve, so the line can be long, but at least it's fair. i don't like it when people are withdrawing payrolls. i wish they'd do it over the counter.

@hereandthere I usually don't go shopping at the mall. As a family friend owns a store that supplies groceries at the malls.

It's a bit like trying to pick the best lane on a highway. We often seem to pick the wrong one.

Since we started online banking and paying bills online, we only just que when buying groceries .. And it's not a long wait except for when during the crazy seasons ( Christmas, Easter, Valentine's ..etc..) .. Over there in the Philippines, I went back to waiting at the bank and shopping there takes longer time at the check out than here ..But I am used to it now..

in some countries, you can scan and pay your own groceries. do you do that or would rather line up at the cashier? we do have online banking here now for paying bills. one of my siblings does a lot of online transactions.

@hereandthere Yes groceries and department stores here have self-serve check out.. It's good to know that there's online banking and bills there also .. I just hope that internet service there improves soon.. If the government allows more providers, it would better for the country ..

patience plays a big role when we are in queue. i too dislike long lines but i am patient as long as nobody 'inserts' himself along the line before me

if there's only one person behind me and he or she only has 1 item, sometimes, i would let them go first

I like to check on short line and make sure the people lining up do not have a whole house worth of groceries or stuff. I have no patience really when lining up, but when there is a need to wait, I will have to let patience get hold of me.

It's all hit or miss . . . there's never really a formula that works every time when it comes to picking the "best" line. Now I figure I will either save or lose a couple minutes tops whatever I do . . . not a big deal . . . so I just pick what I feel is the best line at the time and not think about it after that.

I'm terrible at choosing the right line whether it is at the border or at a store. I will always pick the slowest! Never fails.

At ATM's some do multiple transactions with several cards. And when making a transfer to another account few takes ages to check and recheck the details. That is tough when we are in a hurry. At immigration counters also, some are quick while others take more time though they are supposed to be doing the same job. Sometimes we are plain unlucky to be in the wrong line - siva

I never like waiting in line. The boyfriend will get mad at me because I don't like waiting in the line. I end up cussing and pissing myself. So whenever we're out, he will be the one to do most of the transaction because for sure I end up wearing a red face.

i guess it's because it will be closed thursday and friday so they're buying stuff or things to bring.

I look for the shortest lines too. It is usually worse on the day before a big or long holiday weekend.

I tend to pick up the slow queue very often too. But I always think that I would regret if I lose my place in the slow to to join the faster queue

I am sorry you had all those lines oh my how annoying. I am not good at picking one, because even if I see a short line, someone always takes a long time in front of me
