Is this friends being playful or a man being abusive to a woman?

Anyone who remembers what Chris Brown did to Rihanna years ago. He beaten her face so bad that she looks unrecognizable. They had been separated for a long time.
This photo is very viral now.
Paparazzi had taken a picture of Chris Brown and a woman who is allegedly his friend. If notice the woman looks like in pain as his hands are on her neck and an older woman is trying to stop them.
Chris Brown got interviewed about this viral photo
and he said that it is just him being playful to his female friend. He said they are having a horseplay and it is all fun and games.
Am I a bad person for judging him and not believing him that it's just two friends doing the noogie?
He beats up Rihanna before to the point her whole face is bruised years ago. So How I can I believe this is just noogie and horseplay between 2 friends.

Yeah he beat up Rihanna that bad but then they got together again after that and call it quits again... So if I were to believe he was being playful, then Rihanna must have missed that when she came back running to his arms but then she felt pain again and left.
