No more bonding with feral cats

After my experience with Lolly II who has not returned I will no longer get attached to any feral cats that visit us. I will feed them but not get involved emotionally. It is not easy to watch them getting injured and not being able to do handle them. Lolly II did return the love I showed him but when he got imjured and I treated him with force he left me never to return.

Aww that is so sad he still hasn't returned. Maybe he went off to die? I can't remember just how sick her was. But I do remember when he thought you hurt him he took off even though you were trying to help him.

I have taken a decision never to get attached to these cats. When they leave it disturbs me no end.

I still cannot get over it. The problem is this other male cat and he could never get along and even if he returns there will be trouble again

i'm sorry to hear about this. Yes we can be so attached to our pets and that its not easy to let them go. Cats are independent pet, they can usually live without their human. Dogs are more to be a human dependent pet. I love them both though.

You can treat your own cat when they are injured as they will let you handle them but not feral cats

that is quite a risk, to get attached to something that you are not sure will come back to you.. maybe there is a reason why Lolly II did not come back

I have written many posts on why Lolly II decided to stay away. He had a wound and we called in a Vet. We some how treated him with shots and stuff. He thought we were cruel to him and that was the reason why he left us.

That is so sad. I hope you continue to feed the cats.

That's sad. He might have been picked up by the SPCA. I'd hate to think the worst. :-(

So sad. I just have to steel myself against getting attached, for as much as I like them, cats like to have a routine and I only "do" spontaneous. My avatar kitty belongs to somebody else.

That cat might not return because of some other reasons. Its wound might have been badly infected and it was no longer alive... Regardless, I know what you mean.
