SOB

This is the third medical term that I wish to share to you. SOB is actually an acronym for Shortness of Breath. We usually sob when we are crying. These are short, staccato-like breaths of inspiration wherein we cannot even speak our minds out. I think SOB is commonly manifested when we cannot control our cries and emotions. Sometimes, we give a person a glass of water so her sobbing will be controlled. When somebody who is sobbing is speaking, it may be hard to comprehend what she is talking about. That is why it is better for her to finish her crying time, and then talk to her in a calm and sympathetic manner. Do you sob when you cry, or do your tears just flow down silently?

You disappointed me. I thought you were about to rant about some bad guys at your workplace . I first encountered this SOB word (the cursing one) 3 decades ago when my brother in law using it to curse someone else. I was so surprised back then.

extreme sobbing can be bad for one's heart. but it is also an outlet of emotions when we cry out loud. maybe the hurt you are feeling is so intense that you sob.

@ridingbet it was, Ingrid. My husband had to give me water as I cannot breathe properly for sobbing too much. :(

really? even once? but for sure you cried when you were borne out of this world, right? for how can you imagine an infant laughing when delivered normally?

the last time i recall that i sobbed immensely was when my mother was finally laid to rest. that time, i did not yet know i have a heart ailment. it took me an hour maybe to have stopped crying.

a subtle crying, so typical of a woman who silently is refined person. when sobbing, it may mean the hurt is so severe that you cannot control your emotions.

a sob can be the final manifestation of a cardiac arrest where the breathing is already ceasing; taking the last breath.
