Can you imagine going to the dentist to have your teeth cleaned and find out you may have been exposed to Hep B & C....and HIV????? 9500 patients have possibly been exposed to all three because of nasty dental instruments and brushes. Two high-ranking administrators have resigned as the probe continues into the contamination in Galveston County Texas Dental Clinics. Boy am I glad I have dentures.
TEXAS CITY, Texas —The Galveston County Health District announced Friday its executive director and the dental director have resigned after a failed clinic inspection revealed roughly 9,500 of patients were exposed to Hepatitis, both B and C, and HIV. "Thi

My father is a dentist, and so is my uncle and cousin. They run a really clean practice. I always see another batch of tools taking a trip to the sterilizer. He does deal with a few patients with HIV, so he has to take extra care around them. There's always a bag of bio-hazardous waste they need to take to the hospital for proper disposal.

@nanette64 Yes, well, you have to be true to your profession if you want patients. Some people will come see my father from many states over. I don't know if they were with him before, but they really like him.

@OneOfMany That's how I feel about dentists and doctors. You stick with whom you can trust.

I see how the instruments are immediately removed at our dental clinic and sterilized, I feel safe here.

@nanette64 Hospitals and Clinics are very clean here. I would be more scared if I had to go to Italy.

Yeah, I was never a fan of the dentist either @Courtlynn . I always use to tell mine as I was sitting in the chair, "You see where my right hand is located close to your lower body don't you?"

That's a good thing @Hannihar . Thankfully for me I have dentures and don't have to worry about it any more; although dentures are a pain in the butt. So keep going to those appointments.

That is indeed deadly. One minute youre just waiting to have your teeth cleaned and the next minute you have a disease. Are those really legitimate and licensed dentists? Isnt it a protocol that all equipment be cleaned and sterilized?

Supposedly they are @mlgen1037 . It sounds to me like someone in charge just got lazy and wasn't doing their job.

@nanette64 looks like but the question is, didnt the dentists checked if the equipment were sterilized and cleaned after being used?

@velvet53 My bottom plate is the one I have the most problem with. I can barely get through trying to eat something before the dang glue gives up. I'd use Super Glue, but it would be my luck something with seeds would still get under the plate and then I wouldn't be able to get the plate out.

That is a disgrace. Once again, it show the disregard of the way taxpayer funds are used. It brings to mind some of the conditions in VA hospitals that have been disclosed. This is one reason I cringe when California politicians want to turn California into a single payer health care state.

@nanette64 I totally agree, and they've made it almost impossible to vote them out of office. They are lying when they say they don't let illegals vote.

I have heard of this problem in the past. A reflection on not only the staff and suppliers but the dentist too. Just goes to show you how important finding a good dentist can be. When you find a good dentist pray he stays healthy and is around for a long time.
