this life

The last few days have been a crazy whirlwind of chocolate, pain, money-spending and sleep. Not necessarily in that order. Pain came first. My left knee, again. My MiL says it's arthritis. My Husband tells me to go to the doctor. He calls me Brick, because I walk like the kid from The Middle, but I think that's a tad disableist. You shouldn't have the pains that you have! he grumbles. I just laugh. To be honest, it feels okay right now. Money-spending came second. I bought a bit of tat at the Antiques Fair on Friday. Old dolls, other people's photographic memories, and a perfume bottle that looks like a bird. It's from Avon, just like the tortoise with the upside-down head. Garden furniture has been ordered and will arrive on Thursday. And I have a media storage unit being made to order in India. I paid that off too. Chocolate and sleep both arrived on Easter Day. I slept until one in the afternoon, and then munched on copious amounts of chocolate. Last night I slept for nine hours, and this afternoon I slept for three hours. I knew I was exhausted, but I didn't realise how much my body was craving sleep. I have two weeks off work now ... I wonder if it's possible to store sleep reserves, so that the next term of work can't exhaust me. The uneaten chocolate is now hidden in a cupboard. I have a fat bottom and a fat belly, and a bunch of too-tight summer clothing that requires wearing very soon; there is no room in my diet for chocolate anymore. *sigh* Tomorrow I'm off to town, to hunt for charity shop bargains and drink coffee with my Beautiful Italian, before she departs for a holiday to Sicily. I need some new shoes. Shall I buy a pair?

There are many old dolls in the apartment of my mom, I would be pleased to give them to you, nobody wants them. I also rested a bit, not the day of Easter, yesterday, it was a holiday. Buy the pair of shoes. I do not need shoes, but am also planning to buy a pair. I cannot resist shoes.

@Poppylicious I feel so sad not having someone who likes those dolls. For the moment they are all on my mom's bed, but soon I have to find a place where to move them.

I didn't buy shoes. I ran out of time. I would LOVE the dolls. They would have a good home with me. :)

@LadyDuck You may be able to find a doll collector? Or sell them on eBay? Or perhaps there is a little girl who can give them some love? I love the mystery and the history that comes with dolls, of all shapes and sizes, and in all kinds of conditions! Last year I found a broken faced doll house doll at the tip, probably just dropped minutes earlier and trodden on by some clumsy oaf. I brought it home with me!

@Poppylicious There's never enough shoes for a woman. As a child I didn't think I need more shoes.

@toniganzon My spare bedroom floor is probably hoping it never sees a new pair of shoes ... it's awash with them!

It seems very frivolous when I have about fifteen pairs of shoes and boots already! I remember as a child when we just went to the cobblers and had our shoes re-heeled and/or re-soled because it was cheaper than buying new ones.

Well, last summer was quite nice so I'm hoping for more of the same. I even have pretty cushions!

You are lucky that you have no young relatives or children who force your eyes open in the morning (they have no respect for holidays or weekends!), eat your chocolates, asking you to take them shopping for more toys or more food or more shoes and clothes. This break is not good for me. Enjoy your sleep and outings. Hope your knee becomes better soon. (I still have another giant load of laundry to do, taking the relatives to the doctor (both have some foot problem, incredible!), etc )

I think that Fate made sure I didn't become a mother, lest I die from exhaustion!

@Poppylicious I was determined since a very young age, about 2, not to become a mother. I knew very well where I was going back then. Oh well, things didn't happen the way I planned .

@Poppylicious very comfy, thank you, yes. I shall retire two that have "become too small for me" (!) in due course.

@pgntwo I have some clothes which match that description too! They shrink so easily in the wash, don't they??

I always think of online shopping as a SURPRISE! I know I bought something but until it arrives it's always a little bit of a mystery!

@Poppylicious sometimes it takes so long to arrive, I forgotten exactly what I ordered, this parcel, even if sent out today won't be in my hands before April 25....that's the day I will arrive back at my new home. Then a quick trip to the post office to pick up my mail (a months worth).

No, I own too many as it is. If I remember correctly, I didn't buy any on this occasion.

@Hannihar Most of them. Some are too pretty and fragile to be worn, so they are saved for special occasions without rain. :)

Hello Elizabeth. I like that doll with the pink dress. If there is a need, then you may do so.

She is lovely. Her hair is slightly pink and she still has her original clothing, including her stockings and shoes. I think she's probably from the 1960s.
