Ready to take the plunge

We have peacocks strolling our garden at their will and pleasure. This one after strolling all over flew up on our water tank which is pretty high. It was a joy to watch it take the plunge and fly down. Peacocks have a huge body and it is amazing to see how daintily they fly around even at heights.

We cannot keep peacocks as pets here as they are a national bird. These peacocks just visit us from time to time.

They are such beautiful birds. My neighbor has pink flamingos in her yard, but they're lawn ornaments. :-P

@Starmaiden Too bad you couldn't have said this yesterday- that would make a good April Fool's joke.

We get to hear them every day sometimes from a distance but I tolerate them as their presence around makes my day.

I don't think I've ever seen one fly. Some of the local wineries have them, and they mostly waddle around and run. What I notice most is their screams.

They only fly if they have to reach some height or fly down.

It is our national bird and keeping them as pets is not allowed. But I frequently see them roaming here in our garden. Here is a video clip

Peacocks are gorgeous! I would love to see them just wandering around. That is something I loved about going to the zoo, just the random peacocks walking around.

We had peacocks on the farm and they are certainly very beautiful - and good watchdogs.

They are large and it amazes me as well that they can fly. They must have string wings.
