April The Month of Blossoms

The real origin of the name April is not known, but, according to a common theory, the name is derived from the Latin "Aprilis", from the verb "aperire" (to open).
This makes sense, because April is the month of the opening (blossoming) of trees and flowers.
The April birthstone is the diamond, the most precious of all stones.
The flowers are the daisy and the sweet pea.
The zodiac signs Aries and Taurus.
April is the only month with a "i" in the name and the first of the year with 30 days.
Among the many "National Days", I picked up some that seem interesting:
April 7 - National No Housework Day - I am going to respect this one.
April 13 - National Blame Someone Else Day - This is the first Friday 13th of the year
April 16 - National Eggs Benedict Day - Good not know, I like Eggs Benedict.
April 22 - National Earth Day - This is an important day, let's remember to respect our planet.
April 28 - National Blueberry Pie Day - Another one to respect.
Are the trees and flowers blooming right now in your side of the world?
I know that Autumn is coming in the southern hemisphere.

I know the Spanish word for "to open", and this is abrir. And it was nice conjugating verbs in the Spanish language.
Yes I think April is blooming flowers month. 3 orchids are with flowers here now.

You have some nice pansies in your garden
I had not realized that it was the only month with a "i" in English. There are 5 months with a "i'" in French and 6 in Spanish. The only important in French are those without a "r".
I wonder who has decided that there would be something like a "Blame someone else day" ? I avoid to travel on Friday the 13th, I should better stay at home for this one.

@MarshaMusselman It seems that next week it will rain every day. It's almost depressing.

Not here in Michigan, which is a a good thing, for the icy weather we got may have killed everything.
The way the forecast looks for the rest of April right now we may not get our blooms till may. That will be different.

I have roses, chrysanthemums, poppies and some asters blooming right now in the garden. I am planting Mirabilis Jalapa (the Marvel of Peru or the four O'clock), I am hoping that they will grow good this year. I had them growing wild a decade ago, then we moved house and that was that. I have tried growing them unsuccessful for the last few years. This year, I see some young plants pop up, let see!
I love sweetpea flowers, I planted them successfully 3 decades ago when I was in another state/city, where the weather was warmer. Where I am now, the seedlings just disappear year after year! (My green thumbs turn black perhaps ! )

@YrNemo I have the multi colored. Last year I have seen one white in Italy. I have "stolen" the seeds. I want to see what happens if I plant a few seeds among the others. Will they make a new "mix" including the white. I post an image I already posted here.

@LadyDuck I can't help laughing thinking of how you managed to get the seed of that white color one. Let me know if you are successful. I think I might have seen the white color once somewhere, but I think I am more attracted to the one you have there. I hope mine turns out to be the same, I can't wait! (My childhood was full of the reddish/purple one, never the multicolor ever!)

I really wish I had known about the National No Housework Day back in April... I would have respected the holiday.

@Shellyann36 My niece regularly proposes to do my makeup one day. I fear she does a bit too much. She is a make-up artist.

Yes, there are lots of flowers now. Although, it isn't summer yet here actually, because after a day or two of being sunny, it rains. In fact, it has just drizzled a while ago. And the past days it would rain in the morning, then it will be sunny the whole day and at night it would rain.
I like it that way. Not so hot.

Here in Florida, most of our blossoms occurred at the end of February and beginning of March. But since our weather has been up and down with hot and cold temperatures, we still have some plants and trees blooming even into April.
Thanks for listing the National days. I will take advantage of 7 April and be extra lazy, and then on 13 April I will blame that laziness on someone else! lol
And then eat well on 16 April and 28 April!

Looks like I'm a great celebrator of National No Housework Day and its seems to come often on my calendar.
I haven't seen anything blooming yet. This is the weather for the next few days.

@LadyDuck Today, the weather is depressing with rain up to this point. I went to buy some organic vegetables and I appreciated having rubber boots on top of my shoes as there were huge puddles everywhere. My trusty umbrella also came in handy.

It's been to cold for the flowers to bloom, yet last night I spotted the snowdrops from my kitchen window. One brave pansy is trying to bloom in the planter beside the house. The daffodils and hyacinths are also peeking (not blooming yer) with the green tips of the tulips pushing through the cold earth,

@LadyDuck too windy today for much of anything to want to bloom. By tonight the cold front is supposed to bring us snow again.
