Learn From The Horse's Mistake

I had to teach a class last night and was throwing together some Kun(g) Pao Chicken from Trader Joe's. I had bought some fresh onion and green pepper, and decided to do my usual thing, and add some onion and green pepper to the mix. But my timing was off. I added the onion and pepper from the Trader Joe's package too early, and I added my own onion and green peppers too late. The result was that the chicken was a tad overcooked, as were the Trader Joe's onion and peanuts. The color contrast is quite nice, and I think the picture looks delicious. But be sure to wait to add the "packaged" stuff late and the fresh stuff early if you're adding fresh vegetables. I hope you learn from my mistake.

As you say, it looks good. And you have a mistake in your title if you want to fix it. Have a great day.

Feh. How do you know I didn't say "lean" intentionally?

@vandana7 Most of what I cook is quite good. My Stroganoff has powerful aphrodesiac qualities, so I have to use it sparingly.

Just pretend the chicken is not there. And don't think about the poor, loving, onions, peppers, and garlic cloves that gave their lives so I could get fat. Moo.

@thehorse My culinary mistake which all gentlemen should learn from was to take a leak immediately after chopping fresh chillies without washing my hands first. Can still feel that burn down there and I was quite worried about myself till I made the connection between fresh chillies and stingy willie.

I know . . . believe me I learned the onion and pepper lesson before. I've even done it where the main parts were fine, but the onions and bell peppers were too undercooked because I tossed them in too late.

@TheHorse We like them crunchy too . . . but not in soup or sauces! I've learned to saute them a bit before tossing them in if it gets too late .

I actualty like them a bit "to the tooth." But by the time I had them where I wanted them, the chicken was overdone.

It was not a mistake, you did it to keep the veggies crispy and not to spoil vitamins.

You do love your Trader Joe's stuff. J/K I do too. . . at least some of it. I don't do any of their frozen meals but I do like some of the frozen stuff like their frozen asparagus, the red Argentinian shrimp, and the fish. I find that I go there for very specific things and I wind up buying like 6 of them at a time since I only go there like once every 3-6 months.
