It's Madness I Tell You!

I'm still not quite sure how it happened, but I was just made aware today that I won our office March Madness basketball pool, along with all the prize money. I thought everyone was playing a joke on me, because this year I barely followed college basketball, and literally spent 30 seconds filling out my bracket sheet because I was late submitting my picks. Because I had to rush to fill in all my picks, I didn't think I had a chance in hell of winning, and never gave it much thought after that. I don't even remember most of the teams I picked, although I do remember picking Villanova to win the entire thing.
I always love being surprised with good news, especially if it involves receiving money! And since I'm a gracious winner, I told my staff today that I would take them all out and treat them to lunch.

When I was younger I did follow it and I must admit that I am a UNC fan so I always like to see them winning. My older boys are True Blue Duke fans so we have a bit of a rivalry going between us. I just don't keep up with it anymore. For some reason in my 30's I just decided I didn't want to deal with basketball or football drama any longer. Don't ask me why I have no idea.

I used to do squares in football too! There was a bunch of us that would do it every week for the games. It's been a long time since I did that. I did have a friend of mine who was doing squares for the Super Bowl, but I didn't participate.

It just goes to show how much "luck of the draw" plays into these types of things. I can study and analyze and research all the teams in the tournament to make sound picks, and still end up losing. We often laugh at March Madness time, because it always seems to be the person that knows nothing about sports who ends up doing the best. Last year, a girl won, and she told us she picked all the teams based on the name of their mascots! lol

If it's not too personal how much did you win? You know some of those perfect bracket people can win big bucks! I don't think anyone has ever done a perfect bracket though.

I spent it all on lunch. There were five of us total who went out to eat, and with the cost of the meals and the tip, we used up all the prize money.

It's the big college basketball tournament at the end of the season to determine an eventual national champion. Sixty-four teams compete in the tournament.

If I didn't participate in a March Madness tournament bracket, I probably wouldn't watch most of the games, as I would have very little interest other than watching my own team. But since I participate, I find myself glued to the TV for just about every game rooting on the team I picked in my bracket! lol

That sounds like my life in a nutshell already....doing everything at the last minute, feeling pressured, and in a rush! But somehow I manage to get things accomplished!
Maybe I should play the lottery that way by waiting until about 30 seconds before they stop selling tickets and then rush out to buy a ticket and pick my lottery numbers! haha

Yeah, a lot of people's brackets were busted after the first round of games. Mine was busted, but not quite as bad as everyone else's.

I had my heart set of Michigan, but they did get beat by Villanova. Villanova was, undoubtedly the better team, they deserved the championship:) Congratulations, winning this March Madness pool!

Thanks! My dad went to Michigan. I'm not really a fan of Michigan, but I hate, hate, hate Ohio State, so I guess that makes me a Michigan fan by default! lol
